your head was splitting when you woke up.

you made the mistake of drinking. and you vaguely remembered osamu carrying you upto the room, taking care of you. you remembered talking the whole time, though you couldn't recall exactly what you said.

you reached out for osamu but made contact with an empty side of the bed instead. his muffled voice could be heard from the living room.

you were still wearing your outfit from the night before. your ankle had a band aid on it from a blister- courtesy of high end high heels.

you groaned as you got up, slowly unzipping the side of last night's dress before putting on a far more comfortable hotel robe.

the bedroom door pushed open and in walked osamu, looking more tense than he'd ever looked. almost scared.

"what's wrong?", you asked, pausing your movements, "you look tense"

he looked at you with a flurry of emotions in his eyes before he sighed deeply.

"my dad was taken to the hospital an hour ago", he looked through the cupboard to find a fresh pair of clothes immediately, "i need to leave now"

"what happened to him?", your eyes widened, walking closer to help him pick out a shirt, "do you want to take the jet? i'll call it over now"

"he had a seizure", he informed, trying not to panic, "the doctors don't know exactly what caused it but they're looking. i have a ticket booked already. car is on the way."

there seemed to be genuine fear in his eyes, growing by the minute. his movements grew more hurried.

you didn't know how to comfort him. you couldn't go with him because you couldn't be seen around him in tokyo.

so you helped him pack. told him to call you if he needed anything. told him to call you once he reached. told him to keep you posted.

"i'll see you tomorrow", he told you after you pressed a brief, meaningful kiss to his lips, foreheads touching.

and then he was gone. the weekend away met its abrupt end.

you changed and headed down to the lobby to find that atsumu had left with his brother, looking just as worried.

the lack of his presence had brought kiyoomi's spirits down. your brother was both concerned about him and disappointed by his absence.

it reflected in the way he drove that evening. he was in a good position- starting second on the grid- but he messed up the start and made contact with bokuto which caused him to retire the car for the race.

in the end, he finished seventh while tooru oikawa obtained a grand chelem- he started on pole, led every lap of the race and finished the race in first place. he received tons of praise even from the people that hated him.

kiyoomi received a considerable amount of criticism on social media in response to the way he drove but he had a very loyal fanbase- one that was defending him with determination.

bokuto, being everyone's sweetheart, went to apologise to kiyoomi after the race for playing a part in their collision. the latter shrugged it off, insisting that it was just a racing incident and that he was sorry too.

you missed osamu the entire time.

you didn't speak to him for the rest of the day, owing to the lengthy time he spent in the flight.

he sent you a text in the night, saying that his dad was gonna be in the hospital from now on and that he was gonna be with him for the time being.

you couldn't wait to get on that flight to see him again.
