"osamu?", your heart rate was through the roof at the lack of response.
everything went silent and you repeated his name.
there was a huge pit in your stomach. only the kind of feeling you get when you're sure something has gone horribly wrong.
"osamu", you whispered, and then the line went off. he hung up.
you stared at your phone, feeling shinsuke walk up right next to you. you were scared. fuck, you were. it didn't sound good and it had you fearing the worst.
you hated osamu, that was true. but you felt like you would die if he were to. you couldn't fathom it. even if he had it coming, you did not want him to be physically hurt.
you tried calling osamu again. shinsuke called a contact he had from the miyas' security.
your call didn't work. his call did. and he did not look relieved. then again, shinsuke would probably only look relieved if osamu died.
everything felt like a blur by the time you sat in the car and sped off through the city.

atsumu.
that's all who osamu could fucking think of in the few moments that he was vaguely awake. atsumu was driving when they were crashed into by another vehicle.
atsumu had to be okay.
nothing could happen to atsumu. his twin had just gotten the news that he would be taking over as CEO of the company entrusted to both of them. it couldn't just end like this. atsumu couldn't leave him like this. not him.
fuck, not him too.
it was a very short while before they were rescued from their now unidentifiable car. the action taken was immediate but he hadn't been able to catch a glimpse of his twin.
he had felt his ears ringing, unable to keep his eyes open.
he remembered blurred images. bright red flashes, white floodlit ceilings. he could feel being in a large moving vehicle, the unmistakable sound of a siren, the momentum of being transferred to a gurney and then the indistinct sounds of the hospital.
he wondered how serious he himself was, considering he couldn't open his eyes or even move because everything hurt. was he going to be the one to die?
honestly, rather him than atsumu.
maybe this was the ultimate consequence of all his actions. it was harsh, but he wasn't completely undeserving of it. he'd done nothing but hurt the people that he loved and there was little to no hope for him.
he drove you to the point where you had welcomed death. so honestly, rather him than you too.
if death was really in the books, osamu miya didn't want to put up too much of a fight.

the outside of the hospital was crawling with media by the time you arrived.
the news had broken in moments' time. both the heirs of takashi miya's mammoth wealth were involved in a critical car crash. undoubtedly a dramatic story for someone uninvolved.
shinsuke tightly held on to your hand but didn't say anything. he didn't care much about osamu miya but he did care about how he affected you. he didn't offer many words of comfort because he knew you couldn't be comforted by any combination of them.
you had seen the insensitive pictures circulating on social media. pictures of atsumu and osamu both being transferred to ambulances. alive, you reminded yourself.
