you wouldn't say you were detached from what went on at business school but you definitely weren't involved.

you'd admit that your time at the university of tokyo in your early college years was considerably more eventful. there were extracurriculars and hookups and there were some really good friends.

but pursuing your master's made you feel like you were growing up, and that you should focus more on preparing for the job you were going to get when you graduated.

you attended your classes and handed your assignments in on time but that was about it. you were otherwise reserved.

people knew you by name of course. they probably went back home to tell their families that the sakusas' youngest studied in the same batch as them.

your outfit this morning was strategically selected to cover your neck, owing to the lot of dark purple marks along it.

the weekend had been otherwise uneventful. you'd flown back into tokyo yesterday and finished off an assignment you were supposed to submit at college today.

you were running late, probably owing to the twenty minutes you spent trying to find your lone black turtleneck.

"ms.y/n, what will you have for breakfast?", the housekeeper walked towards you but seemed to notice you were in a hurry.

"i'll eat something at college, where's shinsuke?", you questioned, slipping on your shoes

"kita-san said he had to talk to ms.tori about something", she informed and then expressed her concern of you leaving without eating, "are you sure you don't want me to make something for you quickly?"

you politely declined, shaking your head before power walking across the foyer to tori's room.

"shinsuke", you knocked on her door vigorously as you called out, "i'm leaving for college with or without you!!"

you could hear furious whispers from inside the room before shinsuke opened the door and walked out like a robot.

"are you done... 'talking'?", you questioned, gaze zeroing in on tori's swollen lips and the lipstick stain on kita's otherwise crisp white shirt.

tori groaned and looked away, blushing. you happened to be the only person who knew about the clandestine love affair between kita and your sister.

"he's all yours", tori rolled her eyes before waving goodbye to her boyfriend. kita smiled only slightly and then followed you back down the stairs.

"turtlenecks don't work for you honey", tori called as you walked down the stairs.

"i didn't ask", you waved without looking her way, "bye"

you and tori didn't really get along much, maybe because you had very little in common.

your career paths were different, your hobbies, your taste in men. you even lived in different parts of the family mansion. you were mom's favourite, she wasn't.

maybe you were a little close when you both were children, but definitely not since she graduated high school.

probably the only things you did have in common were confidence and mutual love for taylor swift.

it really didn't help your relationship with her that you spent nearly every hour of everyday around her boyfriend, even though you definitely viewed kita as the overprotective older brother that you never had. she didn't feel threatened by you-tori could never feel threatened by anyone-but she didn't like how he prioritised his job over their increasingly serious relationship.
