"again?"

"yeah, i don't know what she wants"

you were cuddled up with osamu miya in bed. he was on bed rest so you were resting with him, arm across his torso, his endless kisses all over your face. a calm in your life that you had not felt in a really long time.

however, your phone had been blowing up for a few days by someone who generally didn't let calm remain in your life. your older sister.

something seemed to have affected tori about the way you cried in front of her at the hospital. she had kept checking in on you ever since, asking you to meet her every other day. you hadn't followed through with any of the plans, because it's never really gone well with you two. you wanted peace.

in the back of your mind, you were curious about how long this worry of tori's would last. what was the guarantee that this wouldn't be the kind of fake worry that kiyoomi showed you? or that this wasn't a ploy to get shinsuke back? and if tori was finally developing a conscience, did you even have it in you to make things right?

you had taken a few days off from everyone and clung to osamu miya, who did not make the mistake of letting you leave for a second now that he had you back.

you'd slept on the hospital couch till you were sure his body recovered. after which you'd climb into the hospital bed with him. nurses would peek into the room and giggle and gossip. osamu would whine when you'd get up to leave.

when he was finally discharged, you moved into his apartment from the hospital. texts came from tori for you to just move back home. it was weird. you missed your home and sometimes longed for it but the thing was, that home didn't exist anymore. it hadn't since mayumi declared you a failure. you had mourned your home like it were dead.

osamu's apartment was the most at home you'd felt in a really long time. that said more about your life than it did about osamu.

you resumed work eventually. you saw kuroo tetsurou everyday and he became part of your routine. you also saw your mother everyday but she seemed to avoid you. not in her usual tense and dominating way, she just went quiet. like wtf does she even want from you at this point.

atsumu had hired people to make sure his brother took his medicines on time but it was too much of an intrusion and you'd taken over the task with ease before telling the staff to leave.

"i can't believe you're here", osamu would say this often, caressing your face like you were gonna disappear.

this period had been like coming up for air after having reached as deep as the titanic and the submarine that disappeared trying to reach there.

you were still not in the clear though, your mind finding it uncomfortable to fully trust the man you loved.

osamu's betrayal had led to the bigger betrayal of your mother, who knowingly left you with no purpose or support when you were in the worst period of your life. she abandoned you.

but trusting osamu was the choice that led to your downfall. apprehension was necessary.

you leaned into osamu miya till you were both devoid of any space. as tight as you could hold him. as tight as he could hold you.

"what's up?", he mumbled, because osamu knew you. and as you'd spent more time with him, he could see the after effects of how much he put you through.

you were not the same person. you weren't giving him all of you. not the way you did before. more lost in thought, reserved. you stared at the wall too long. there were no quips, witty remarks at every turn.
