The glistening sunlight seeped thru the windows into the wide room, waking the man into consciousness. Dae-sik turned to look at the clock as he stretched his body.
The man headed to the dining room as soon as he finished getting ready. There he was greeted by his parents that were already eating. He greeted them a good morning as he settled into the chair across them.
Dae-sik had been staying with his parents since he was discharged over a week ago. Though he highly disapproved of it, he gave into his mother's request since he knew she'd bug him at his place for days. After that came an agreement that after a week he could return back to his place. To which he agreed to.
There was only one problem — it had been over a week.
"Eomma," Dae-sik called out while his parents' were talking. "I'll be going back home today." He shared while his mom had to hold back a laugh.
"No you're not. Are you sure you're feeling well already?" The woman then returned before giggling.
Dae-sik sighed, turning to his father that had a pleading look on his face. He knew what that meant — he has to give into his mother's wishes once again.
Mrs. Hyun gave the men a judgemental look, "Come on, all I meant was it'd be better if he stayed here. It could also remove the hassle in wedding planning."
Dae-sik rolled his eyes and then proceeded to aggresively cut the pancake into pieces. "I'm leaving." He says in an irritated voice. "And I am not planning any wedding."
"That's alright, we have a wedding planner anyways. Just show up to the fittings. Me and Hyo-rin's mother will take care of the rest." His mother responded with a smile on her face as she continued to eat.
His father patted his shoulder and shaked his head, signing that he should put up with his mother for the meantime.
A little while later while the three of them were done with their meal and were chatting in the living room, Dae-sik drew a deep breath before he spoke, "Eomma, Appa, I have a question."
His father turned to face him, "What is that?"
While his mother nodded her head, signing for him to continue.
The man drew another deep breath, "There's something that's been bugging me." He confessed, "I've been wondering if you knew her since some memories with her have been returning..."
Mrs. Hyun let out a shuddering breath. Looking at her husband, she gave him a death stare. "What's her name, Son?" She calmly asked instead of answering his question.
"I can't recall it that much, but all I know is her name starts with 'Mi'." He responded, nervousness evident in his voice as he fiddled with his fingers.
"U-uh, I don't think I know anyone, Dae-sik." His mother said and Dae-sik turned to his father that was looking intently at the tea cup.
"Earth to Abeoji." The man waved his hand in front of his father's face, startling him.
"E-eoh, nor can I, Son." His father stammered as he looked at his wife.
Dae-sik sighed in disappointment. But why would he even expect them to tell him all about her when they've been controlling his love life for years already. His patience was running out. If they don't want to tell him anything, he'll just have to wait until their consciousness pushes them to do it. For now, he needs to talk to Cha Mijo. And they won't find out about it either.
