Eren was getting a little annoyed. Jean was talking like Eren was just a friend and Armin was his boyfriend. Or at least that's how he was starting to take it. He can understand why he's upset but it really isn't his place.

Armin smiled. Knowing it wanted to fix things makes it better. Know he didn't just think he was in the right and wanted to make an effort to change things shows he actually cares. He didn't need to a lot just prove he actually cares. Which he did.
