Eyzah looked at her eyes, searching for nothing and everything. She searched for a demon capable of a crime so gruesome. She searched for a monster incapable of hiding itself from the preying eyes of the jury. Instead, she found a broken, numb girl, lost and empty.
Errum tied her hair in a ponytail today, a messy one nevertheless. Eyzah saw her pictures from before the "incident"- she doesn't seem to know many hairstyles other than a ponytail. Her sister said she can't tie her hair on her own. Her mother used to do it for her-
Her heart broke as she submitted the evidence to the judge. She knew detectives we'ren't supposed to be this vulnerable. But Eyzah was not used to 17 y/os murdering their mother with no apparent reason. For God's sake she couldn't tie her own fucking hair!
The jury looked at her, judgement oozing out of their expressions. They hate her already, of course. But she remained oblivious to everyone, staring coldly at the judge. Not a drop of tear, not an iota of fear.
She strained her neck and looked at Eyzah. She tried to break free of the eye contact but Errum's stare freezed her. Then, she gave her the most subtle smile showing her perfect set of white teeth. She felt shudders down her spine. Her eyes cold, her smile emotionless, creepy.
The trial begins.
