The Affair

Chapter 9

Yolisa POV

It's been close to a week since we went to Liyema's place and things between Andile and I have actually gotten quite worse. I don't know what's happening with her anymore. It's like she's drifting further and further away from me and I can't do anything about that.

Even if I tried. She doesn't give me the time of day. She has even stopped with the routine she spoke about last Sunday. She's actually acting hella funny and I don't like that. I'm scared guys. I'm not ready to lose her, not like this.

Anyways I was at work at the moment and I know I have to stay focused for the sake of these kids, but I just can't. I don't even know why I came to school today, because I knew I wouldn't be able to focus.

I had a free period now, but I'm gonna have a class on the last period and I'm not in the mood to be reading. I get out of my classroom then go to the office. I collect some papers that I needed to be printed then walk back to my class.

I put the papers on a desk in front then sit behind my desk and let out a sigh. Ahhhhhhh fuck man Andile.

I decide to call her because I haven't heard from her the whole of today and I didn't see her either this morning cause she left early.

-Yolisa? She wispered my name.

-Hey, how are you?

-Are you okay?

-Yes. I just wanted- She cuts me off.

-Are my kids fine?

-I mean yeah, but- She cuts me off again.

-Then I'll call you back later. I'm in a meeting.

-Oh okay I'm so- I get cut off again as she hangs up the phone.

Exactly what I'm talking about. You know these past few days she doesn't even call me baby or anything like that. It's been strictly Yoli or Yolisa and that coming from her is hella weird.

Honestly now, I don't know if she's acting like this because of what I told her last Sunday, but I swear after that day she wasn't the same anymore. There are even some nights she doesn't sleep at home. Other days she comes back past midnight and you just wonder as a wife, what the hell is happening and where the hell was she?

We literally fight every night and she takes that lightly. The only upside to all this is that she still respects me... But sometimes that's not enough.

The bell rings. Whatever though.

After a few minutes learners start entering my classroom. "Get a paper and sit. I'm gonna explain once the whole class is here." I say to the ones inside.

When the whole class is here I greet them, some greet back, others mumble, others don't. Honestly I don't care. I was once in highschool.

"Those papers you took has Chapters 1 till 20 on the book we've been reading. I want chapters 1 till 5 done for Monday. Please don't fall behind. For now you will choose of you want to chill or get started on the work, but I'm not teaching now, I'm also tired. So this is your period you'll see how you utilise it." I say then go to my desk and sit down.

Some learner comes and asks to go to the toilet. "You know my rule right?" I ask then he nods his head then I let him go. I have a rule about this whole going to the toilet thing.

I know learners like bunking in the name of going to the toilet so I made a rule that they have to be back in 5 minutes if they are a boy and 10 minutes if they are a girl. Because this thing of kids bunking with my pass is not gonna happen.

So if they pass that time, they either have to have a damn good and believable excuse or they will not be allowed to go out of my classroom ever again, for the whole year... And nobody wants that.

It's after school so I went to my car then got in. I started it then tried Andile but it rang and went to voicemail. How long is this damn meeting bruh. Like I wanna go to her workplace but I can't until I know she's done. Or maybe I can just go check her cause before the whole drama between us, she wouldn't mind me just showing up.

I make my way to her job then get in. I get to reception. "Oh hi Mrs Citwa. How can I help you?" The lady there asks.

"Can you please just tell Andile I'm here." I say.

"Uhm- Mrs Citwa hasn't been in today. Uhm, she actually left a message asking to cancel all her meetings today because she is not feeling well." She says then I arch my eyebrows. Okay so now I'm confused.

"Okay thank you." I say then she smiles and I make my way to the lift. I take my phone out and call Andile.

-Lisa I said I'll call you back.

-How are you in a meeting and you not at work?

-It's an informal meeting. Hold on-

She stops talking for a moment and I hear some movement from her side.

-Bruh what is this now? Don't you trust me?

-Well you can't lie and expect me to not say anything.

-I'm not lying Yolisa. I'm in a damn meeting and I can't have you calling me every 5 minutes because you made a new discovery. I never told you I'm in my office, we don't talk anymore, so how would you know where I am?

-Okay sorry Andile.

-I'll see you at home.

I got in my car then left the building. I swear to God if Andile is doing things she's not supposed to be doing...

I checked the time and saw it was time to fetch the kids. I started at Elihle and Lihleli's school. I called them when I arrived then they came a few minutes later. Then I went to Asive's school and I went inside to go fetch him. Then I decided to buy fast food. We passed by McDonald's and I bought them food then we went back to the house.
