The Affair

Chapter 23

I got Elihle's school and ten to four and called him.

-Ma?

-I'm here boy.

-Okay. I'm coming mama.

-Alright.

I say then hang up as I wait for him. I adjusted my seat so it's laying down a bit and relaxed on it. Man today has been a long day.

It's days like these I wished I was still with my soulmate man, but we are not gonna dwell too much or at all into that.

I felt myself starting to doze off, but was quickly disturbed by a knock on my window. I looked to where the knock was coming from and unlocked the car. There goes my peace and quiet for the day.

They put their bags in the boot of the car and both sat in the back. "Hello mama." Asive said jumping up and down on his seat. "No man. Sit still." Elihle reprimanded him cause he was putting him in his car seater.

I laughed and shook my head. "Hello baby. How was school today?" I ask looking back at him. He was now sad and didn't even look at me. "Sive?" I called him with a little smile on my face.

"Mmhh?" I responded then I wrinkled my forehead. "Rephrase." I say then he took out a breath.

"Yes ma?" He responded. "If you carry on with this attitude I will not get you something nice." I say then he eventually looked at me.

"But then he shouted at me." He says pointing at Elihle. "But he is your brother. He was reprimanding you." I say then I look at Elihle who didn't care a damn.

Yohhh. There's that peace I was talking about. "Elihle, you?" I asked letting out a sigh. Imma let that little boy be, cause this is the age where the attitude starts, and today, I'm not up for it.

"It was loong. Dragged unnecessarily, and I didn't even wanna stay until three, but ey man. I'm alive." He says then I laughed and looked at him questionably.

"Okay? Dragged how firstly, and why stay if you don't want?" I ask.

"Dragged cause who in their right and sane mind puts maths and physics after break?" He rather states rolling his eyes. "And the other question-" he stops then looks at Asive.

"We'll talk when we get home." He says lowly so Asive doesn't hear. I get a bit worried after that, but I'll find out when he tells me I guess.

I hear another knock, but from the back of the car. I look at my mirror and see Lihleli. I opened the boot and the car, and lifted my seat.

She sat in the front and looked back. "I knew it smelt like cheap cologne here." She teases looking at Elihle. He flips his middle finger and her then she hits his legs. "I love you too." She says then I smile. I swear imma lock myself in my room tonight.

"Little one. How was school?" She asks Asive. "Fine." He says still angry. Can't he grow up already yohhhh. I close my eyes for a second before starting the car.

"And then. What's with your son?" She asks me then I shrug my shoulders and wave it off.

"Anyways. How are you ma?" She asks sitting straight and putting on her seat belt. "Drained." I say then I see he nod her head on the side of me eye.

"I feel you." She says then I laugh. She doesn't know anything yet. I drive out of the parking as I had parked in reverse and put the volume up to listen to the news.

"Guys, I'm not cooking today. What do you want to eat?" I ask still keeping my eyes on the road.

"We'll disc-" Elihle gets cut off by Asive. "McDonald's!" He shouts then I hear Elihle suck his teeth.
