Chapter 10: The Idea

Y/N's POV

So Peggy and I have joined Steve and Tony on the command deck and we are mourning Phil's death.

Nick then takes something out of his jacket.

Nick: These were in Coulson's jacket. I guess he never did get you to sign them.

He throws a pack of cards on the table and they have blood on them.

Nick: We're dead in the air up here. Our communications, the location of the cube, Banner, Thor....I got nothing for you. I lost my one good eye. Maybe I had that coming.

He takes a breath.

Nick: Yes, we were going to build an Arsenal with the tesseract. I never, put my chips on that number though.

Y/N: Why's that?

Nick: Because I'm playing something even riskier. There was an idea, Stark knew this called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles we never could. Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea. In heroes.

Then Tony stands up and leaves the room.

Nick: Well its an old fashioned thing.

Steve then stands up and leaves the room, I look at Peggy and she nods.

I then stand up and go out of the room to Steve.

Y/N: You okay?

Steve: Let's find Tony.

I nod and then Steve and I go look for Tony.

(Five Minutes Later)

So, after five minutes of searching Steve and I find Tony in the cell room.

Steve: Was he married?

Tony: I heard there was a cellist.

Y/N: I'm sorry, he seemed like a good man.

Tony: He was an idiot.

Steve: Why? For believing?

Tony: For taking on Loki alone.

Steve: Stark, he was doing his job.

Tony: He was out of his league. He should've waited.

Steve: Sometimes there is no way out.

Tony: Yeah, I've heard that before Cap.

Tony walks past us.

Steve: Is this the first time you've lost a soldier?

Tony turns around and looks at us.

Tony: We are not soldiers! We're not fighting Fury's fight.

Steve: Neither am I. He's got the same blood on his hands that Loki does. But right now, we got to put that behind us and get this done. Loki needs a power source. If we can put together a list...

Y/N: He made it personal.

Steve: That's not the point, L/N.

Y/N: That is the point. That's Loki's point. He hit us all right where we live. Why?

Steve: To tear us apart.

Y/N: Divide and conquer is great, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right? That's what he wants.

Tony then adds in.

Tony: He wants to beat us and he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience.

I walk up the steps and turn to them.

Steve: Right, I caught his act in schaurt.

Y/N: That's just the previews. This is his opening night. Loki is a full-tilt diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades. He wants a monument built to the skies with his name plastered...

I look at Tony and see he has just realized something.

Tony: Son of a bitch.

Tony starts to walk away.

Steve: What's the plan Stark?

Tony: I'm gonna go have a talk with our friend. L/N, Your with me.

I look at Steve.

Y/N: Guess I'm going with him.

I then follow Tony.

Steve's POV

So I'm now going to talk with Natasha when I see Peggy.

Peggy: Hi.

Steve: Hi.

Peggy: I know that it's been weird for you given who I am.

Steve: Yeah it has been.

Peggy: And I know I'm not the Peggy you knew but I just wanted you to know that I'm here for you.

Steve: Thanks.

Peggy: So what now, Captain?

Steve: Go suit up....Captain.

Peggy nods and then walks away and then I go talk to Natasha.

Steve: Time to go.

Natasha: Go where?

Steve: I'll tell you on the way. Can you fly one of those jets?

???: I can.

I turn and see Clint walk out of the bathroom.

I look at Natasha and she gives me a nod and then I look at Clint.

Steve: Got a suit?

Clint: Yeah.

Steve: Then suit up.

I walk out of the room.

Y/N's POV

So I'm now in my suit standing with Tony and he is working on his iron-man suit.

Y/N: The armor is cool. But have you ever tried a different kind of armor?

He puts his glove on and looks at me.

Tony: If you find another type of suitable armor then I'm all ears.

I put my mask on and after Tony is finished he and I head to New York.

(Five minutes later)

Peggy's POV

After getting ready we all head to one of the quinjets and a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was sitting inside.

Agent: Hey, you guys aren't authorized to be in here.

Steve puts his hand out.

Steve: Son, just don't.

The agent gets out of the jet and then we head off for the battle of New York.
