Chapter 43: United We Stand

Y/N's POV

After Sam and I meet up with Steve and Peggy we take Bucky to an abandoned warehouse.

Peggy and I are looking outside when we see a chopper flying by.

We then hear Sam's voice.

Sam: Carter! Spidey!

We turn and go over to Sam and Steve and see that Bucky is waking up.

After a couple seconds Bucky talks.

Bucky: Steve?

Steve: Which Bucky am I talking to?

Bucky: Your moms name was Sarah. You used to wear newspapers in your shoes.

Steve: Can't read that in a museum.

Sam: Just like that, we're supposed to be cool?

Bucky looks at Peggy.

Bucky: Peggy, your...alive.

Peggy: I'm actually from an alternate universe. It's confusing.

Bucky chuckles at this.

Bucky: God. What did I do?

Steve: Enough.

Bucky: I knew this would happen. Everything HYDRA put inside me is still there. All he had to do was say those goddamn words.

Y/N: Who was he?

Bucky: I don't know.

Steve: People are dead. The building, the setup...the doctor did all that just to get ten minutes with you. I need you to do better than "I don't know."

Bucky thinks for a minute.

Bucky: He wanted to know about Siberia. Where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where.

Y/N: Why would he need to know that?

Bucky looks at me.

Bucky: Because I'm not the only winter soldier.

Bucky tells us that he was sent on a mission in 1991 to get a version of the super soldier serum but when they serum was used and they failed the people were put into cryo freeze.

Y/N: The doctor, could he control them?

Bucky: Enough.

Y/N: Said he wanted to see an empire fall...

Bucky: With these guys he could do it. They speak 30 languages, can hide in plain sight...infiltrate, assassinate, destabilize. They can take a whole country down in one night, youd never see them coming.

The four of us walk over to the side.

Sam: This would have been a lot easier a week ago.

Steve: If we call Tony...

Peggy: No, he won't believe us.

Steve: Even if he did...

Y/N: Who knows if the accords would let him help.

Steve: Then we're on our own.

Sam: Maybe not. I know a guy.

Steve, Peggy and I look at Sam in confusion.

Tony's POV

So, after the escape, Natasha and I talk to Ross who has given us thirty-six hours to bring them in.

After Ross leaves the room, Natasha comes over to me.

Tony: My left arm is numb. Is that normal?

Natasha walks over and touches my shoulder.
