Chapter 60: Five Years Later

(Queens, New York, April 2023, Y/N's Age: 36)

Third Person Perspective

Y/N and Peggy are currently sleeping in there house in Queens which they moved into four years ago.

Y/N is moving around violently in his sleep, he's having another nightmare of Thanos snapping his fingers and everyone turning to dust.

He's had nightmares ever since the snap though he's never told anyone about them but they've happened.

Y/N's POV

I gasp and sit up in bed and I feel the sweat gripping down my face.

After I wipe the sweat from my face I look over and see Peggy sleeping.

I'm glad that she's able to sleep through the night, unlike me, I haven't slept through the night since before the snap.

I get out of bed and go into the bathroom and look down at the sink.

When I look back up at the mirror all I see is Thanos snapping his fingers.

I gasp and close my eyes.

Then I hear what Thanos' said to me when we fought.

Thanos: If you do survive what happens next, remember that it was your fault.

When I open my eyes, I just see me.

I sigh and then turn the water on and wipe my face off with water.

I put my hands on the edge of the sink and I close my eyes again and breathe heavily.

After a few minutes, I leave the bathroom and I start walking back to the bedroom.

I end up in Laura's room and I see her sleeping peacefully in her bed.

I go over and grab the rocking chair and drag it over near the bed.

I then sit down and start rocking as I watch Laura sleep.

After a few minutes I hear footsteps and I look over and see Peggy standing by the door wearing just my t-shirt.

Peggy: (Whispers) Babe, what are you doing?

Y/N: (Whispers) Just making sure she's okay.

Peggy: (Whispers) She's fine, babe.

Peggy comes over to me and rubs my shoulders.

Peggy: (Whispers) Come back to bed.

Y/N: (Whispers) Yeah, I'll be there in a minute.

Peggy: (Whispers) Alright.

Peggy kisses my cheek and then walks out of the room.

After this, I look at Laura's stand and see the picture of Peggy, Tony, Pepper, Laura, Morgan and myself.

Laura and Morgan are best friends and have been for the last couple of years.

The picture on the stand was from four months ago.

I grab the picture and stare at it and I sigh.

I hated how Laura and Morgan had to live in a world after Thanos.

After a few minutes I put the photo back on the stand.

Then I stand up and move Laura's hair from her eyes and then I kiss her on the forehead.

I smile and then I leave the room.

I close the door and then head back to Mine and Peggy's room.

When I walk in I see Peggy sitting on the bed.

Peggy: Are you okay?

Y/N: I'm fine.

Peggy: Are you sure? Because this is the fourth night where I've found you sitting in our daughters room watching her sleep.

Y/N: I'm fine, Peg. I promise.

Peggy: Come here.

I go over and get in bed and lay between Peggy's legs.

I then lay my head on her chest and she starts rubbing her hands through my hair.

Peggy: I worry about you, Y/N.

Y/N: I promise, I'm okay.

Peggy: You say that and yet you still give me reasons to worry.

Y/N: I just.... I'm okay. Our daughter is okay, so I'm okay.

Peggy kisses my forehead.

Peggy: Promise me that you'll tell me if you're not okay.

I nod.

Peggy: Okay. Now please go to sleep.

Y/N: All right.

I roll off her and lay my head on my pillow.

After this I try to fall asleep but it's easier said than done because all I see is Thanos snapping his fingers.

(The Next Day)

So it's the next day and I'm now cooking lunch for Peggy and Laura.

Peggy: Babe, have you seen my phone?

Y/N: It should be on the stand.

Peggy: I looked there. I can't find it.

Y/N: Did you check on my side?

Peggy: Yes I checked on your side.

Y/N: Did you look inside?

Peggy: Ye...No. Found it.

Y/N: I knew it.

Peggy then comes out of the bedroom.

Peggy: Ooh...What are you making?

Y/N: Sandwiches for you and Laura.

Peggy comes over to me and gives me a kiss.

Peggy: They look great.

Y/N: Thanks.

Peggy: Oh, uh Pepper wants to know when we're gonna get to having the cook out.

Y/N: Whenever you want to is fine.

Peggy: Babe.

She crosses her arms.

Y/N: What?

Peggy: You always say "Whenever you want to is fine."

Y/N: Right cause you usually tend to the stuff like that.

Peggy: And your usually down In the basement working on E.V.E.

Y/N: Hey don't bring her into this.

Peggy laughs at this.

Peggy: Please pick a day.

Y/N: Okay uh, one week.

Peggy: Perfect. You should go find your daughter so she can eat.

Y/N: You realize she's your daughter too?

Peggy pulls me towards her wraps her arms around my neck.

Peggy: Well of course I do. After all I'm the one who spent thirteen hours in labor.

I laugh.

Y/N: I remember.

Peggy and I kiss and then she pulls away.

Peggy: Go find her.

Y/N: You got it, mom.

Then I leave the kitchen to go and find Laura.
