Chapter 11

Clary's pov

"The Soul-Sword reveals all" The Silent Brother said

I breathed heavily and looked up while they were chanting.

The Soul-Sword touched my head and I closed my eyes.

Flashback

I was sat in bed on my phone to Simon. Aria was next to me playing on her phone.

"No way" I chuckled

"Really?" I said

"Huh?" I said

I could hear footsteps approaching and a gasp.

"Simon, I got to go" I said and hung up

Aria and I pretended to be asleep.

Our mother and Luke walked in.

"Luke...no" Mum said

"All this lying is destroying you" Luke said

"Stop blocking their memories and tell them the truth" He said

"I can't. You know, I can't" She said

"You're just delaying the inevitable" He said

"Clary and Aria are Shadowhunters. You know that. There's nothing you can do to change that" He said

"This world is too dangerous" She said

"If anyone knew who they really were the risks would be a hundred times greater" Mum said

I discreetly grabbed Aria's hand and she squeezed it back reassuringly.

"What happens when they find out the truth on their own?" Luke said

"And then what?" I won't let that happen" She said

"If Clary ever finds out about her father...if she ever finds out that her father is Valentine" Mum said

"What about Aria? She does not know I am her father. Have you even told them that you are not Aria's real mum? Clary and Aria are not sisters, they have a different mum and different dad." Luke said

"If Aria ever finds out about her mother, her real mother we are all in danger. Her mother is Valentine's ex mistress, dangerous, ruthless, lethal. If Aria's mother finds her we are all in danger. If Valentine ever finds out about Clary we are all in danger" Mum said

I squeezed Aria's hand tightly.

Flashback over

I opened my eyes and gasped and panted.

"Wait...where are they going?" I said

"We aren't done. We can't be done." I said

Aria and I are not biological sisters. It does not matter, she is still my sister. She will always be, we grew up together. Aria and Jace ran to me. Aria hugged me and I hugged her back. She wiped my tears away.

"Clary, do you know where the Cup is?" Jace said

"No" I said

"Only fragments of her memory were accessible to us" The Silent Brother said

"It can't be true...what I saw" I said

"Any of it" I said not wanting to believe it

"Your memory does not lie" He said
