The blare of the loud as can be alarm clock, dragged Emma out of her slumber. Instinctively reaching for her phone, she double-taped to reveal the time.

Drawing in a quick breath, she was so surprised at the time that she soon choked on her own spit.

"7:30?!" She coughed as the numbers, rose up alongside the bright light that almost blinded her. Thank God she had her reading glasses on which she quickly adjusted properly to rest on her nose. Why did she put it so bright anyways?

"Oh," she soon remembered her mum did after weeks of complaining of the dim light.

Surprised either way, she jerked up as every bit of sleep cleared from her eyes. Why did she wake up so late?

Anyway, sliding down from the bed, she frantically slid into her rabbit slippers in a frantic rush to wash up and properly begin her day when her mother; Mrs Blake, suddenly barged into the room with a smile threatening to blind her even more than the phone's light.

"Good morning, my honey dearest." Her mum greeted happily coming closer and sitting on the bed.

"Morning Mum," Emma responded. With much care.

"What's up?"

She could bet her friendship bracelet something was up by the way she, her mother was beaming and as sure as all, wasn't going to fall for another one of her tricks. At least not this early morning.

"Well. . ." Her mum trailed on with a sudden dash to Emma's closet quickly shuffling through all the clothes neatly hung then turning round.

"So. . . It's been on my mind since last night and I just realized that you don't have enough articles of clothing and may be in dire need of a closet makeover." She closed the closet partly and took a few steps sideways to reveal the 'scanty' clothe rack.

You know, now that you're going to school in another city, I just wondered if you'll need a change of wardrobe... You know... to maybe fit the weather there and all that."

She flashed Emma a sly smile coming closer. Emma had to adjust her glasses to be able to continue the conversation.

"Just a little school shopping is all." She ended with the same bright smile that woke her up.

Like was she auditioning to replace the sun or what exactly? Cause she's definitely, already got the part.

"Goodness, mum." Emma chuckled briefly shielding her eyes with her hand.

"You could literally replace the sun right now you know? Shine down on everyone, your smile is enough to do that now. And as I have already told you on numerous occasions, I have enough clothes to wear. More than can fit in the closet. Footwear and accessories included so what's all this? What do you really want? Just say it."

"I mean." She stuttered sudden, "I was just thinking since your clothes are so few and look quite old-" She made sure to put emphasis on the 'old' and batted her lashes in a solemn plea.

"I'm just thinking out loud here. You've got to give it a chance first before you decide ok?"

"Mum-" Emma called exasperated. "Just get to the point already."

"We're going... shopping today!" She happily announced.

"What now?"

Emma wore a confused look while taking a good long look at her closet before gesturing to it with both hands.

"It's literally full. We went to the mall just last week which need I remind you was three days ago."

"Did we? Hmmm- I don't quite remember darling. It feels like it was months ago. Must be the dementia that tags along with getting old." She replied heaving out a quick breath and placing one hand on her hip and both her index finger and thumb on the bridge of her nose.
