Emma sat in class, eyes fixed on the person standing in front of her but her mind was someplace far off. She thought back to her first day at The Elite. She was now approaching the end of junior year and quite fortunately, she hadn't had any encounter with Jasmine or any other rich brat that may bring trouble her way so her stay so far was as they say; smooth like butter.
"Now, my last assignment for you lot is..." Mr Jason's voice brought her back to reality.
"I want you all to do a little project for me. You will be placed in groups of four to make extensive research on what you think or feel inspires an artist and bring a visual representation of it to me anytime before the school year runs out. This will be our last encounter till then." He opened up a book and began to read;
"Here are your groups...
Group 1: Natasha,Julian,Mel and Seth.
Group 2:Emma,Eden,Oliver and Ryan.
Group 3: Jasmine,Harry,Steve and Bell..."
When he was done, he put the book down.
"I don't know how you're going to present it to me and I don't want to know. I want you to surprise me. Ok everyone?"
He took his glasses off and kept them on the table as he began to pack up his books. Everyone was still seated when he turned to them looking slightly surprised.
"Well then, go on already. Class's dismissed."
Emma sat there looking as confused as everyone else. The class had barely begun and Mr Jason wasn't one to end his classes so early without teaching much.
Noticing their confused state, he chuckled lightly before speaking
"I'm serious. Class is over. Go and get started on your projects. Shoo"
No one budged obviously thinking he was still joking not until he pulled out a big book everyone was too familiar with and flipped it open.
"Since no one wants to leave now," he picked up his glasses and put them back on,
"go to page 150 of 'Day and Night' and..."
Before he could finish his sentence almost everyone was on their feet. Day and Night was one of the most boring books to read. Some people had already deleted it because of how boring, long and space consuming it was.
Emma got up and wore her bag. She made her way towards the elevator to go down, she was just congratulating herself on avoiding anyone trouble related but now, she was grouped with three of them?!
"What rotten luck!" She shook her head as she walked.
"Could life get any worse? Really."
She mumbled to herself before she stopped realizing someone she didn't want to meet, well not yet was coming directly her way. She skilfully made a detour to avoid the person but was met with another person she didn't want to see at the moment.
Realising there was no avoiding it, she stood still slowly accepting her fate. Her now quite life was going to rock so hard she just might fall.
Oliver and Ryan reached her at the exact same time. They greeted each other with a handshake and smiled professionally.
"But why tho"
They looked like two business men who were meeting to discuss the terms of their partnership.
"Ryan Black." He introduced himself. "A pleasure to be working on this project with you Oliver Asher."
"Same here." Oliver responded. "I believe we, have met before."
"You remember that?" Ryan seemed surprised.
"It was so long ago. Your family had mine over for dinner, right?"
"Yes and you came along with your elder brother..." Oliver paused, he seemed to have said something he shouldn't have judging from his expression and the speed with which he diverted the conversation to Emma.
"I guess we're partners then."
"I guess so." Emma responded in a low voice.
"Give me some time to mourn my now dead quiet life." The last part, she said more to herself than anyone else.
Tightening her grip on her bag, she looked up more determined than ever.
"Might as well get this over with." She thought.
"I look forward to working with you Emma." Ryan spoke this time before giving her a welcoming smile.
"Me too." Emma smiled back. "Soooo Oliver and Ryan."
She called their names as they both responded in unison.
"So obedient and sharp." She thought for a second.
"I'm going to need your schedules so I can set up time to have group meetings if you both don't mind."
"Absolutely." Ryan said bringing out his phone and Oliver did the same.
They were using the new Blue Pro. It hadn't even been on the market for up to a week and was super expensive.
"Of course it should be expected that they would be using only the latest items. Especially Oliver since he practically owned the company." She thought bringing out her phone now feeling a little embarrassed cause it was an older version from the same company but the feeling soon washed away. After all, it still worked in the same way theirs did and quite well if she might add.
She had just finished collecting their schedules when the sound of sharp heels making contact with the floor filled the air.
This took her back to the first time she had met Jasmine Nadia but this wasn't her. It was someone quite similar but different.
"Oh God! What now" Emma groaned inwardly as Eden stopped in front of her gauging thoroughly before she turned to Ryan and Oliver.
