Starwatcher came to in peaceful meadow, the tall grass waving slightly from the gentle breeze. She stood up and blinked. Only greenish-yellow grass as far as the eye could see, in all directions. How did she get here? Hadn't she been casting a spell with the dopey little SeaWing, Turtle?

She decided to scout out her surroundings to find out where she was, and how to get back. Her wings spread and Starwatcher tried to catch the current to go up. She flapped her wings, expecting to be lifted by the wind like usual.

But she wasn't.

Starwatcher frowned and stopped trying to fly. Upon looking down, she spotted a thick, green vine winding around her ankle. She hissed in irritation and tried to shake it off, but it only clutched tighter. "Get off!" she snarled.

The vine immediately coiled back into the field. Weird. Wait, had she just used an enchantment? Wasted her soul on something as small and useless as a stupid bewitched vine? Starwatcher tried to lift a talon to smack herself in the head, but couldn't, another vine was holding her to the ground.

"Three moons!" she groaned. She tried to breathe flame on the vines approaching out of the nearby grass, but they suddenly lunged and held her snout shut. I enchant these vines to get off of me! thought Starwatcher angrily. They sprung back, but when she tried to take flight, they immediately latched onto her wings this time. "UGH!"

Starwatcher had had it. The vines had wrapped around her wings, tail, snout, and all four legs. They began to drag her into the low grass. She felt the rough ground scrape painfully against her smooth scales as she hit the ground, struggling uselessly.

She wildly thought of possible enchantments, then one clicked in her head. I enchant myself to have command over all plants, able to control them and make them do what I want.

The NightWing reached out with her new power and found the roots of the annoying vines. She wrenched them away from her body and scrambled to her feet triumphantly. Looking down, Starwatcher noticed that the vines had stopped moving completely. Waiting for a command, she realized with a rush of glee. Waiting for a command... from ME. I control all plants in this meadow. In the world. I... can do whatever I want with them.

Wait, was that an evil thought? Starwatcher shook her head irritably and took to the air. It worked this time; nothing snatching at her wings or tail as she glided over the meadow. She felt something tap against her snout and looked up. Storm clouds were gathering above the formerly peaceful landscape, and it was beginning to rain.

Wasn't it just sunny? What happened? A harsh wind sent Starwatcher tumbling backward. She caught herself with flared wings, only feet from being smashed against the ground. She flapped as hard as she could, but the wind whirled her out of control, sending her spinning up. Lightning arced through the sky. About ten seconds later, thunder rumbled menacingly.

Starwatcher was losing the fight and losing her patience. What was happening? Why was everything working against her? Some kind of a spell from Darkstalker? She growled in frustration. Thrusting out a talon, she muttered an enchantment under her breath. The thunder roared. Rain beat on her back like a drum. The wind threatened to push her out of the sky completely.

Suddenly, the storm clouds were clearing away. Starwatcher flew forwards, waving her claws at any clouds, driving the rain away and calming the wind. Within about a minute, the storm was completely gone. Starwatcher scowled. If any other... thing... attacked her, she would get REALLY PISSED OFF.

She looked down, searching for any sign of life, particularly dragons, but saw nothing except for peaceful, swaying grass. Starwatcher examined her claws. Was this a good time to use animus magic? Would it be a waste? She needed to get back to Clearsight.

Starwatcher drifted back down to the ground and picked up a stone. "I enchant this rock to show--what?"

The pebble was turning into dust, falling through her talons. Starwatcher frowned. What was happening to her? Why was everything against her--the vines, the storm... this was getting worrying and creepy. She lifted a talon to fidget with her rings, then blinked.

They weren't there.

Starwatcher felt her wrist in panic, but it too was gone. She lifted a claw in time to feel her crescent moon earring turning to dust.

"NO!" she roared; those pieces of jewelry were sacred to her! "I enchant m--MMPH!" Something had wrapped around her snout once more, blocking her vision, the wind was picking up again, and she felt raindrops against her body as it was, again, slammed against the ground and dragged into the undergrowth.

Starwatcher tried to reach out with her magic, but felt nothing; whatever was holding her was not a plant. From the rough texture, she guessed it was a rope. She attempted to clear the storm as she had before, but no luck on that either.

That's it! She thought furiously. I enchant all inanimate objects to be under my control, and completely obey any command I give! The ropes flew off of Starwatcher's snout, laying at her feet. She held her claws out, letting the rain dance on her talons for a few more moments, before flicking them, and clearing the clouds away.

Starwatcher laughed, watching the sunlight slowly filter through the gray sky. She closed her eyes and explored her new power. She felt the plants swaying under her command. The rocks by a nearby stream were waiting for her orders. Heck, she could make all the water in the stream itself come flying towards her.

She flared her wings and launched into the sky, feeling light and free. No more worrying about her soul now; there was no need for any more enchantments. She had power over all inanimate objects.

Starwatcher didn't know where she was, why she was there, or how she was going to use this power to escape.

She just knew one thing:

She was finally free.

Whew! That chapter took a long time to write. It might not make much sense, but it will in the next few chapters, trust me. Anyway, I'm gonna go sleep, so damn tired right now. Bye, thanks for reading!
