caught on a weird day

"and that concludes todays lesson."

your attention was automatically caught by the loud ear-booming bell, the feeling of disappointed rising when remembering tutoring awaited. the day has been sufficiently long and agonizing already, you'd just about had enough torture for the next week.

letting out a yawn, stretching out your limbs leisurely, smith had been seriously death glaring you. he'd stopped pausing mid-lecture to catch your attention a while back, though the lack of formality still boiled his blood.

historia had come by your desk yet her eyes seemed to survey another sight. with a turn of the head in curiosity, eren jaeger had been in the same class. it was no wonder she enjoyed this period, how had you not noticed him beforehand. well, eren had blended into the wall like a background character.

he stood on the side of armins desk, who'd been hurriedly cleaning up his own things while chatting, presumably about today's topic.

"hi eren."

historias tone was assertive, obviously knowing her self-worth and what a call meant. it was almost as if she'd been calling him forth, a tint of playfulness lying beneath the calm demeanor. the brunette simply glanced up, same clueless expression as before, "oh, hey historia."

a malevolent thought came to mind, and as usual, you played it up. "hey eren," you perked, innocently focusing your attention on his frail body, "you should walk historia to practice."

jaeger looked a bit taken back, slightly confused but considering he was put on the spot there was no room to back out. plus, who would chicken out on tending to a pretty girl? however bearing in mind how visually impaired to hints eren was the question was pointless.

armin had been revived with anticipation seeing how you'd wanted them to head off so you two could be alone. in reality, you'd just been following up with the get-reiner-to-move-on-from-historia plan. it wasn't expected to take two days, though historia and eren seemed to be taking it slow, perhaps because he was clueless. regardless, the thought came.

finally the green eyed freak agreed, which led to the smallest genuine look of happiness taking over historias usually mundane expression. the four of you began walking out, historia and eren hip to hip. you subconsciously smiled as she cutely turned back to wave, walking off alongside the boy whose hands were stuffed inside his washed out blue jeans pockets boyishly.

fast forward through an awkward conversation and short skip to the library, you lounge lazily in a chair, legs crossed, chewing on a piece of gum. the used history textbook is laid out but it's clearly untouched.

armin sits across the table, notebook out and very touched, sat with this posture that just screamed exemplary student with way too much pride. amazing posture nonetheless, but his eye contact skills, not so notable.

"do you enjoy this? deep down, is tutoring me one of your weird little fantasy dreams."

he was shooken up by the random question, the first thing you said since taking a seat. blunt as ever, not caring to hide the unrelenting shallow bitchyness anymore, clearly bothered by personal issues following last night. that got in the way of any inclination to pretend to care about studying.

he keeps it plain and simple, no sense of irritation or discomfort, "maybe it was, before i actually met you."

you scoff, slightly offended but at the same time half-expecting a response like that, "so you've got jokes now?"

he lets out a breathless sigh, ignoring the line of vision that seemed to be shooting lasers in his direction. after a split second, he straightens out while closing that composition book he seemed to always carry around like a diary, "let's skip this today."
