Nikki's POV

I still wonder how five years have gone. Usually when you're in jail time drags on forever. But maybe it was meant to happen like this. Like, how the hell I'm not dead yet? Or killing people even in jail? Well, for five years spent here I realized how much of an asshole I used to be. Like, who the hell kills so many people in the blink of an eye? Fucking prick... I even killed Stacey... She didn't deserve it. But no, I was selfish and overreacting... And why? Because Moira got enough of my shit. Ah Moira... These five years she's been visiting me any time she could. Mornings, evenings, afternoons, there was even that night when the police had to wake me up at 3am because Moira insisted. This woman is my blessing. And my deeds are my curse. My mother pays me visits still. It's not like I forgave her, it's just that I'm changing now and I don't want to be mad anymore. And yeah, my father's dead since years. Destiny played such a joke on me and I didn't get it in time. And now I have lessons to learn. Well, I'm done with crimes. I'm done with being mad at everyone and everything. I'm done with that criminal way of life. I'm done with my bitchy attitude. Now it's time for me to enter a brand new chapter of my life. When I get out of here (if I do), I'll try my best to live the life I've always wanted to live.

Lately, I've been playing bass with some guys in jail. They're called James Michael and DJ Ashba. They really helped me out musically. Yet they'll be out of jail next month because they aren't hardcore criminals like me. I wish I wasn't so spoiled.
"Hey Sixx, have you ever thought of the idea of being in a real band?" Wait, what did you say?
"Well, maybe as a kid. Why?"
"You have five more years in prison but me and Ashba will surely be visiting you. And when you get out of here, we want you in our band." What? Me in a band? I thought this dream has gone forever.
"Wait, you're telling me-"
"Yes Sixx. We'll start a band after you get out of here. You can use some of the lyrics you showed us." Thank God Moira brought my poems here.
"Wow, I-I don't know what to say. Thank you, man. But what name we should pick for the band?"
"I already came up with it. How is "Sixx:A.M." for a name of our band?" Oh wow... They even came up with a name. Is this really happening?
"Sixx:A.M.? Like, six in the morning?"
"You're the "Sixx", "A" is for Ashba and "M" is for Michael. Yet it's interesting how our names create such a cool thing." Well, 6-acetylmorphine (6-AM), which, when found in urine, is evidence of heroin use so... I'M IN.
"I appreciate it man, I really do. Thank you for giving me a chance."
"Dude, you're amazing bass player and your lyrics are really mind-blowing. We need your genius mind and mystery to be revealed."
"Thank you, DJ."

"Sixx, your girlfriend is here."
"Coming, officer."
"Damn you're lucky." You don't have idea how right you are, DJ.
"Of course he is. She's a cop."
"A cop? Nikki, dude, you're a fucking prisoner. How are you dating a fucking cop?"
"Story for another day, guys." I make my way to the door. As I walk to the chair I see my Moira smiling. Ah Moira.
"Hey."
"Hey. How are you?"
"I'm great. I met some guys who want me in their band."
"What? You in a band? Oh God, Nikki, I'm so proud of you. You're going to make your dream come true."
"Isn't it amazing?"
"Of course it is. So, who are they?"
"James Michael and DJ Ashba."
"DJ?"
"That's his name."
"Oh, I thought he was am actual DJ for a second."
"Hahaha, I used to think that too. But then we started jamming and..."
"Tell me you showed your poems."
"They're not poems now. They're lyrics."
"Aaww, come here my little rockstar." Her hug feels like home. I'm so happy she's mine.

"So, what should we do now?"
"We're gonna listen to this." It was James's idea to start recording our playing so we can have some demo tapes. Thank God the police got nice with me. Once we even made a small concert for the other prisoners. Even some cops enjoyed it.
"What's this?"
"Some demos from Sixx:A.M."
"Wait, your band is called Sixx:A.M.? Wow... I-"
"This is called 'funeral' but maybe we should change the name to something else."
"Such a dark title for that. But to be honest, it doesn't sound like a dark song to me..."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm telling you that this song has a little bit of hope in it don't you think?" She's a genius. I love this woman.
"You're right. In your opinion, what should this song be called?"
"I don't know, Nikki. I'm not a musician. But this song is trying to convince me that life is beautiful anyway and-" BINGO!
"Wait... That's it... That's the title. Thank you so much Moira. You're gonna be so proud of me one day."
"I already am, Nikki."
