The Applause

"I live for the applause, applause, applause. I live for the applause-plause, live for the applause-plause, live for the-" Alex took a really deep breath and practically screamed out, "Way that you cheer and scream for me!"

They quieted their voice again "The applause, applause, applause..."

Then Alex bellowed, with their full chest "GIVE ME THAT THING THAT I LOVE!"

"If you had simply asked for applause, this contract could have been much easier."

"JESUS!" Alex tripped over their own feet in surprise.

A steady hand grabbed their waist, "You have got to stop calling me that."

Alex gaped up at Lucifer in shock. A human face stared back down at them, a tinge of annoyance in his eyes.The first thing that Alex noticed was his eyes. They were bright red, like rubies and they were mesmerizing to look at.

Well hell.

They snapped themselves out of their trance by snickering proudly at the pun they had created.

Lucifer raised an eyebrow, "Are you laughing at me?"

"Ah! No! No! I promise I'm not!" Alex waved their hands frantically, "I just thought of a pun that's all!"

Lucifer let go of their waist, dropping them down on the ground. It was a surprisingly gentle landing, the more Alex thought about it the more confusing it became. They fell onto hardwood floor, it shouldn't have been soft.

Huh. How strange.

They looked up at Lucifer who had his hands on his hips, looking down at them with a mildly amused expression.

"You have nice hair."

"Pardon?"

Alex flushed "No! I promise I'm not creepy, it's just really pretty!"

They eyed the hair cascading down his shoulders. His hair fell down to his waist and was tied into a low ponytail with a silk red ribbon. It was beautiful hair, no one could deny that. His hair was perfect, it looked like one could run their fingers through it and find absolutely no knots.

They frowned momentarily, thinking about how bad their hair was. It had been through its fair share of damage.

"It's not real."

That was enough to shock Alex out of their own thoughts, "Huh?"

"Saying "huh" in response to everything is quite rude, you know."

"Oh, sorry."

The devil frowned down at them, "As the king of demons I am very powerful, this should come as no surprise to you."

"Yeah."

"What I look like and how I appear is merely to make manipulation and my job as the devil easier." He paused and side eyed Alex "I can look however I want to, the length of my hair and how I look in a human body is not real."

Alex stared blankly at him, "Wait so can you make your hair hot pink?"

Lucifer gave an exasperated sigh and obliged, his long hair becoming bright pink and shortening to only barely cover his ears and loose.

"WAIT-" Alex grabbed his shoulders and shook him "CAN YOU LOOK LIKE CHARACTERS?!"

"Huh?"

"Hey! You told me not to say-" Alex frowned "Never mind! Don't you distract me! Can you copy a character design or voice if I show it to you!?"

Lucifer stared into Alex's eyes that practically shone in excitement and in this very moment, for the first time in a very long time, he was scared.
