Lucifer shuffled through the mountain of paperwork on his desk. One might assume that an immortal and unholy King of Demons would not spend most of his day doing paperwork.
That assumption would be wrong.
The amount of paperwork he had was atrocious. Lucifer had to take care of most matters regarding Hell, especially trade with Heaven for valuable resources they couldn't get in Hell.
He flipped through the papers and sighed miserably.
"Lucifer?" Lilith peered down at him, her smooth voice calling him back to the present.
"Ah.. my apologies, Lilith."
She smiled warmly at him and gave a pointed look down at the document she had placed on his desk.
"In answer to your request, yes we have enough wiggle room in our budget for that." He said as he signed the paper, she reached down to grab the paper but he held on tight to it. "I hope that this money will not go to waste."
The ancient demon chuckled, "Of course not, Lucy."
He bared his teeth "You dare be so impertinent-"
Lilith smiled knowingly at him and he cut off and clutched his head, muttering a curse under his breath.
"You know, I do wonder how a mere human managed to summon you, without a sacrifice nonetheless."
Lucifer scowled at her, she was poking around where she shouldn't once again. "Lilith..."
"I know, I know, but curiosity is killing me!"
She slammed her hands on the desk "How!? Did they receive a blessing from a god or high ranking undead?"
The devil groaned and ran his fingers through his hair, not bothering to respond.
"Are they a demon undercover in the human world?" She paused and thought for a minute, "No, I would have noticed that. If I take some of their blood then I can-"
"No."
"Ok! Blood is a no-no. How about this, a secret love child of a demon and an angel!" Lilith laughed at her own joke but Lucifer fell strangely silent.
"You're kidding."
He avoided her incredulous stare and picked at the edges of the paperwork he had meant to hand her.
Lilith quickly neutralized her expression, taking the paper from him, "I'm afraid I must take my leave now. My apologies for not being able to stay longer."
Lilith gave her friend a small smile and wiggled her eyebrows shoulder as she sauntered out "Good luck with your hybrid!"
He frowned slightly, "Don't call them that."
