Alex exhaled slowly, blinking awake. They opened their eyes to a beautiful clear blue sky, it looked like something out of a painting. For a brief moment they were frozen with pure confusion, confusion as to why they did not wake up to the usual sight of their ceiling and confusion as to why they were laying on cool, soft grass.
They sat up slowly, feeling surprisingly calm for having just woken up in an unknown environment. The reason why they felt so calm was because of the faint scent of smoke that drifted through the air.
Lucifer.
Alex laughed, the wind caressing their face gently as they looked around, taking in their surroundings. They lay on a large hill covered in beautiful green grass, there were many flowers surrounding them of all colors and if you listened closely you could hear the faint trickling of a stream in the distance.
A low voice spoke from behind them, "You have been stressed because of your job, just relax for now."
Alex looked down at Lucy who was lying down leisurely with his hands behind his head and his silky hair fanning out all around him.
Their chest felt strangely warm as they smiled down at their friend and slowly laid down diagonally across from him. Alex breathed in deeply, letting themselves relax.
"Lucy..."
"Yes?"
"You smell like you're that one old uncle who is a smoker."
He snorted and withdrew his hand "Dear, I live in hell, I tend to find myself around fire and smoke a lot." The devil turned his head to face them and smirked "However I can assure you that I am not your uncle, Alex."
Dumbfounded, Alex stared at his face for a solid minute, visibly attempting to process how beautiful he looked in that moment. Light streamed down and wind blew against his hair in a way that you could only read in books, and needless to say his beauty was unearthly. If Lucy had just asked for their soul, contract or no, Alex would have likely handed it over without the slightest hesitation. Suddenly Alex slapped their hands against their cheeks "Lord have mercy... we must stay focused brothers! We must stay focused!"
"Who on earth are you speaking to Alex?"
They flipped their hair dramatically, "My fans."
Lucifer rolled his eyes and they both stood there for a while in silence, simply observing their surroundings and enjoying the breeze.
"Lucy?" Alex hesitantly spoke up, "Could you make it rain?"
No sooner than they had said that they were soaked to the bone by a sudden downpour. They quickly got over their surprise and lifted their face up to the sky, spreading their arms out.
"Lucy! Run with me!" They reached down, holding out their hands to him.
He smiled softly and took their hands, "Why?"
Alex ignored his question and took off running, dragging Lucifer along with them.
No one would have believed that was the Devil in that moment, the way his face lit up and the way both of them were breathless from laughing and running at the same time.
After all, in all the stories you hear, devils are not happy.
But this one was.
