Chapter 9 - Tough Love

DING DONG

Leni opened her front door to reveal her visitor.

It was Bong Bong.

Bong Bong stepped forward, his face was full of worry. He said,

"VP, I can explain what happened last night."

Leni scoffed. She was still hurt and angry.

"Don't call me VP anymore. Iba na ang VP mo diba? Oh, wait... Si Risa din pala... Who knows how many women you even have?"

Bong Bong shook his head.

"VP, no. Hindi yun totoo. I'm not like that."

Leni raised her voice, tears forming in her eyes.

"And you expect me to believe that, Bong Bong!?"

Bong Bong was getting frustrated.

"Yes! I've been framed!"

"Framed!? Sinasabi mo lang yan kasi nahuli ka!"

"I'm telling the truth, VP! Risa set me up!"

Leni was already crying as she shook her head, she still refused to trust his words.

Bong Bong's voice softened, he badly needed her to believe him.

"VP... Please. What can I do to make you believe me?"

Leni looked down at her ring and removed it from her finger.

She then shoved it in Bong Bong's hands.

Bong Bong was hurt by what she just did. He said, 

"Don't do this, VP... I love you."

For some reason, Leni hearing Bong Bong say those three words hurt her even more.

Bong Bong wanted to hold her. He wished that they didn't have to go through all this.

Leni wiped her tears. Her voice was firm as she said,

"I think you should go now."

Bong Bong tried to get closer to her but Leni took a step back, not wanting to be touched by him.

It felt like torture for Bong Bong, seeing Leni act that way.

He felt defeated but he hoped that she still has some love for him.

He looked into her eyes and said,

"After everything that we've been through... Please don't give up on us."

Leni closed her eyes and quietly said,

"Just go, Bong Bong... I need some time."

Respecting Leni's decision, Bong Bong took one last look at her and said,

"I'll come back for you, VP... I promise you that..."

Finally, Bong Bong left.

After hearing the door close, Leni opened her eyes and saw that Bong Bong was finally gone.

Her heart felt hollow and her world was in ruins.

She went back to her bed and cried herself to sleep.

After his hurtful conversation with Leni, Bong Bong found himself alone in the viewing deck of his brother-in-law's building.
