In my mind, the information that stuck is 'he doesn't remember.'
I kept repeating it over and over again like a sick person.
He can't remember ever being tied up in Les' house.
He couldn't remember ever seeing me in a ridiculous medieval dress or the slap I gave him.
He also had no recollection of ever seeing Les armed with a sword.
And no one here but me knew about that day, not even MaryAnne.
"How did MaryAnne learn of your passing?" I asked.
"She never talked about it."
"She felt it," Ron explained. "Their bond was strong."
Then Cesar surprised us. I was so focused on the conversation that I didn't even see him approach. He was already greeting me with his hand on my shoulder when I realized he was there.
"Are these two bothering you?" He asked, already leaning in to ask me for a kiss. I returned awkwardly for being in front of, possibly, Joe.
"You weren't gone long." Rony noted.
"I hurried back to be with Lilly." Then he held my hand and asked. "Let's go inside... we can watch a movie or something."
"Okay," I said. Still a little stunned by everything. "Excuse me."
On our way inside, Cesar asked:
"What did he want?"
"Rony and I were questioning him to see what he remembered from Joe's life."
"And?"
"He remembers everything, down to the very last detail. As for Chaos' life, he said he's been told about the desert and doesn't remember what would have been his death."
"Who else was there?"
"The vampires and Les."
"Hm." He said as we entered the house. "Interesting."
