The following days were happy at home. The boys were having a blast, and both MaryAnne and I were at peace, with all our loved ones gathered together. There was a silent understanding between us. We hardly spoke, but after understanding each other's pain, we mutually respected each other. Even the staff seemed happier.

One afternoon...

"Lilly, a man named Miguel is here."

"Let him in," I said and immediately went to the front door. From there, I recognized Miguel from afar, walking from the main gate.

MaryAnne, who was sitting in front of the house, stood up and said, "What a magnificent creature."

Meanwhile, Jase joined us, arriving hurriedly from some corner of the house.

"Sure is," he agreed with MaryAnne's comment.

I went to Miguel and met him halfway. I noticed one of the security guards watching him, so I waved, indicating that everything was fine. The guard nodded and returned to his post.

"My mother," he said, beautifully, as we approached each other.

"You came."

"I did. Is there somewhere we can talk?"

"Of course. Let's go this way," I said, indicating the direction of the pool house.

"How is young Jase?"

"He's well. Fortunately, the process didn't take long."

"I'm sorry it happened. I made my objection clear from the start."

As we passed by the side of the house, MaryAnne came to us.

"Hello!"

"MaryAnne, this is Miguel."

Smiling, she extended her hand to him.

"How are you?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mary."

That phrase seemed to melt her.

"Mind if I join you?"

I was going to ask for privacy, but Miguel anticipated:

"Of course!"

Then the two started talking. As we got closer to the pool house, Jase joined us as well.

"Hellooo!"

"Jase, it's okay. We're just..." I began to speak, believing that Jase was there to "protect me from any harm."

"He knows," Miguel commented. "He's here for another reason." Then he turned to Jase. "Join us."

And, to my surprise, all of us went together to the pool house. Inside, after being well served with snacks and wine, Miguel began to explain his presence here:

"After that... fateful day," Miguel speaking was so beautiful, "Les made me promise that I would be honest with you, mother." I looked at him, confused. "He wanted me to show you what I do."

Then, the security guard who had been watching us earlier opened the door, joining us as well. He looked at all of us and greeted us as if we were close friends, even though I had never exchanged a word with him. Not out of malice, but his presence there, entering our little gathering, was very strange.

"But understand me, please." Miguel leaned in to make sure I was listening. "I really do love you."

It was hard to pay attention to him while the security guard stood there, taking off his jacket, his weapons, and equipment, and loosening his tie while serving himself wine and snacks. Miguel called my attention back:
