The next day, Rony led the boys to the weapons room. I declined the invitation, as it brought back terrible memories. They returned with a few objects and headed off to train. MaryAnne and I had found a place to sit near the window, allowing us to watch the boys practice.

"Here we go," MaryAnne said, settling in beside me.

From our vantage point, we could see Joe sporting a belt with a baton, while Jase appeared to be holding a pocket knife. It seemed they were keen to relive the old days when Joe was a police officer, and Jase had run-ins with the law. Rony spoke to them, likely explaining the rules, before they commenced their sparring. Joe was incredibly aggressive, his intensity impressive. When Jase finally got an opening, blood trickling from his nose and mouth, he quipped, "This is the VIP treatment I remember."

Joe, fueled by the taunt, went at him even harder. After subduing Jase, Joe gave him instructions on how to break free. Rony attempted to assist but eventually they both conceded. Jase stood up, gasping for breath. "Damn."

"You said you wanted special treatment," Joe retorted.

"Okay... again."

They resumed their fight, but this time, Joe immobilized Jase much quicker. As he released him, Rony suggested, "Better take a break now."

The three sat on the curb near their training spot, with Joe offering Jase tips. Occasionally, Joe stood and used Rony to demonstrate a move, with Jase listening intently. They decided to spar once more, and this time, Joe sent Jase flying through the air. It was then they decided to call it a day.

The following morning, we were taken by surprise at breakfast when our assistant announced, "Lilly, Cesar and Vince are at the door."

"Let them in," I replied.

We rose and went to greet them at the entrance. Still outside, Cesar began, "I presume your guardian has been training."

"He has," I confirmed.

"Good. I want to test his skills."

Jase immediately stepped up to face Cesar. From the start, Cesar lifted Jase by the neck. Infuriated, Cesar shouted, "You have to be better than this!" before slamming Jase to the ground. Still fuming, he turned to Rony, "This is completely unacceptable, and you know it!"

"He'll get there," Rony responded calmly.

"I'll be back soon to check," Cesar declared.

As they turned to leave, Rony chased after them. "Wait!"

Jase, consumed with rage, stormed into the house.

One afternoon, as I lounged by the pool, savoring a moment of doing nothing, someone intruded on my peace.

"Hello."

It was Vince.

"No one told me you were coming, how did you get in?" I snapped, still irritated from the party.

"Ouch! All right. I probably deserve this treatment."

"What do you want, Vince?"

Awkwardly, he made small talk before leaving shortly after. My patience with him had run out.
