A few days later, I received a call from Vince.
"Stop whatever you're doing..."
"First of all, hi?"
"And get dressed. We're going out."
"Where to?"
"Just do as I say. I'll be there soon."
I got ready and waited for him, and it wasn't long before he arrived. He didn't even get out of the car.
"Get in."
I got in and buckled my seatbelt.
"Where are we going?"
He stopped everything to look at me and ask, "Do you trust me?"
"I'm in the car, aren't I?"
He smiled, and just before driving off, Jase got in and sat in the back seat, buckling his seatbelt.
"Over my cold, dead body will you take Lilly anywhere like this."
"What's he doing here?"
"Ignore him. Let's go."
Grumbling, Vince drove us to the location. I asked several times where we were going, but he didn't respond.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long to recognize the place.
"No," I protested.
"Do you trust me?"
"I have a baaaad feeling about this," Jase said from the back seat.
Vince got annoyed and responded loudly, "Shut up!"
"What's going on, Vin?" I asked.
"I would never do anything to hurt you. You know that, right?"
"Even I know that," Jase said, "but something doesn't feel right. Where are we?"
"Give me a minute," Vince requested, exchanging a few messages on his phone. It didn't take long before he continued, "Alright, let's go."
He got out of the car, and so did I, but when Jase tried to follow, Vince protested.
"Not you. You wait here." Jase chuckled derisively and got out anyway. Vince continued, "I'm serious, don't get involved. You can peek from the outside, but that's it."
Jase said nothing, but his silence indicated he understood.
and then.............. the three of us walked over to Shannon's house.
How I hated that place.
We rang the doorbell, and a man answered, recognizing Vince and letting us in.
"Thanks, Jarvis."
"He's in the red room."
Vince and I entered the house and made our way to the designated room. When we arrived, I saw Cesar reclining in a chair in the middle of the room. He was looking out the window and didn't acknowledge our presence. As I approached, I became increasingly shocked at what I saw. He was sweaty, disheveled, and looked like he hadn't bathed in days. When I got close enough for him to notice me, his first words were:
"What?"
"Cesar, you look like Vince!" It was what came out of my mouth. Cesar was so disfigured he could easily pass for Vince.
"Not what I expected, but thanks, Lilian," Vin commented.
"What I meant was..."
"What are you doing here, anyway?" Cesar asked irritably.
"I brought her here. I wanted her to see how you're doing."
"Go to hell!" Cesar protested immediately.
"I hoped maybe you'd come out of this," Vince concluded.
"Cesar, do you need healing?" I asked.
"Healing? Like... a cure? Of course, look at him!"
Cesar looked at me, irritated, and replied, "What I want is for you to leave me alone!"
And he left, leaving us alone. Vin nodded that we should go.
In the car, we found a note from Jase.
Had to check something.
See you at home.Without thinking much, we got in the car and drove back.
"Do you think this visit will make any difference?"
"We had to try."
Vin dropped me off at home and left.
