"Connor."

"Connoooor."

"Conn."

Connor opened his eyes and blinked sleepily, squinting in the sun. He and Evan had been dating for almost six months now and sleepovers had become a regular occurrence for when one of them felt upset or lonely or anxious,  or when they just preferred each others' company to an empty bed. The only problem was that Evan always woke up early, whereas Connor would happily stay in bed until two in the afternoon if he had it his way.

"Mmmm? Whashh... time?" Connor mumbled blearily, still definitely half asleep. Evan smiled delightedly.

"You're awake!"

Connor went to close his eyes again. "Nooo... not really..."

Evan frowned, tapping his fingers on Connor's temple to get him to open his eyes again.

"But Connor, I want to cuddle. And kisses. I want lots of kisses." Connor responded with a snore, although even in his sleep he wrapped his arms tightly around the boy next to him. Evan looked at his sleeping boyfriend for a few minutes, just taking everything in. The high cheekbones. The faint sprinkle of freckles you could only really see if you looked closely. The way his eyelashes fluttered slightly with every breath he took. The gentle part between his lips.

Placing a soft kiss on Connor's eyelids, he fell back into bed and decided he would plan something fun. After a couple of minutes thinking, Evan wriggled out of Connor's grip to start the day.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Connor... happy birthday to you," Evan sang strolling into his bedroom holding a breakfast tray. A couple of hours had passed since the last time Evan tried to get Connor up, and he sat up this time, smiling tiredly.

"Ev, it's not my birthday, you know."

Evan laughed, putting the tray down on the bed and handing Connor a plate of toast and scrambled eggs. "I know. I just wanted to... you know..." he trailed off, smiling shyly. "Hurry up and eat. I planned something for today." Connor's eyes became as wide as saucers.

"No you didn't."

Evan laughed again, poking his boyfriend in the arm. "Course I did."

Connor looked up at him through wide eyes, toast and eggs stuffed in his mouth. "Have I told you that I love you?" he asked.

Evan pretended to think. "Tell me again."

Connor smiled mischievously. "I don't love you." Evan faked outrage, picking up a pillow and chucking it at his boyfriend.

"Say sorry. And say you love me."

Smiling guiltily and pulling Evan in for a kiss, Connor obliged.

"Of course I love you."

"So... Ev. Do you want to tell me where we're going?" The pair had been driving for about half an hour, without any help from google maps, and Connor was fairly certain that wherever Evan was intending to take them, they were probably lost. Evan laughed nervously, confirming Connor's suspicions.

"I don't know?"

Evan quickly turned to look at his boyfriend, who sat there with a look of shock on his face.

"You mean that we've been driving around aimlessly for the past thirty five minutes?" Connor asked.

"Not aimlessly," Evan corrected, shaking his head. "I had this idea. Of like.... what if we found a place, a place where no one's been before, or at least not recently, and we just went there today, and then.... we... made it... our own. I don't know." Evan blushed now that he'd verbalised his thoughts. "Never mind, it's a stupid idea anyways. I knew I shouldn't have... let's just go back. It's stupid," he muttered, losing faith in his idea completely.
