"great job, halley," auston said as he stood up from the large blue chair we'd been using for the interviews in the documentary.

i've never been so excited to create a project than i was to help with this limited series. sports have been such an important part of my life, and even though i was recognized for modelling, it was important to me on a personal level to keep my sports anchoring and entertainment career alive.

then one day, the general manager of the leafs called me and said that auston had recommended me to help out with the show. now, i'm in toronto for the next week filming the first set of interviews for the first half of regular season.

i was in charge of creating and asking the questions that related to the current events going on. i generally just needed to watch all the footage and take notes so that the players could be interviewed based on certain events.

"thank you matty," i replied, sorting through my papers for the next player. "are you busy tonight? i'm bored and i need to have fun in this city."

he fixed his hat on his head, looking at me. "let's think about where you are right now, halley." he smirked.

i was genuinely confused, "what like where i am? we're at your practice arena."

"okay, and what happens at a practice arena?" he mocked me and it finally hit me. i laughed at myself and smacked him on the arm, "don't even."

a grin formed on auston's face as he laughed at me. "i gotta go...but practice ends at 9 so i might be able to go out later. i'll text you."

"alrighty, have a good practice," i sarcastically rolled my eyes at him while he walked away.

before he even walked five feet away from me, he turned around and raised his hand. "oh wait? why don't you text shawn, from the club and game...we saw him yesterday so he must be in town," he suggested.

and it wasn't an awful idea.

i pasted shawn's address in google maps and saw that it was only two blocks away. i placed my phone back down on the bathroom counter and finished doing my hair and makeup. it was going to be a very natural look; i hate getting ready when i'm not modelling.

i threw on some blue jeans, my saint laurent chelsea boots, and a cable knit green and blue sweater. i grabbed my beige beanie, black jacket, purse, and my spare key for auston's apartment. since i was staying here for a while, he offered to let me use his guest room since his roommate just got traded to another team and was no longer in toronto.

i swung open the door and started my walk to his condo, staring at my phone basically the whole time because i had no idea where anything was in this city. after about seven minutes of freezing fucking cold air, i walked into his building's lobby and found him sitting on a chair near the front, all bundled up.

his short beanie sat on top of his curly brown locks, his long white socks stuck out of his chelsea boots and his coat was undone revealing his red sweater. he honestly looked like an adorable canadian child.

"hey," he grinned cutely and stood up. "ready to face the winter, arizona kid?" i laughed at his nickname and smiled, "no, but let's go."

we walked down the street for a couple blocks, talking about random things like his favourite songs and what i've been up to while in this city. we reached a courtyard and he looked up, "welcome to the distillery."

i stared up at the beautiful red-bricked scenery and all the people walking around. "is this a popular place here?" i asked, curious.

"yeah, it's more popular around the holidays when they do their annual christmas market, but it's still just a nice place to hang out and eat," shawn hummed in response.

eat? oh my gosh food sounds incredible. "are we eating? i'm starving," i complained. "yes, we're going to my favourite place here—el catrin."

"ooh, sounds spanish," i said and grinned as i made him laugh. "take me there now, mr mendes."
