Gwen Gives Me The Talk

"Hey! Why are you so tense- OW!"

I jumped nearly 10 feet in the air, literally. As I was falling down, I managed to manipulate the winds just in time before I fell on my butt.

"What the Pluto! Don't sneak up on me like that." I said to whoever grabbed my shoulders.

Gwen was on her butt, her hair sticking out in weird directions. "Ow you jerk. Help me up."

I scrambled to help her up. We were in front of the mess hall while the rest of the legion enjoyed dinner inside. Even from out here, you could hear the laughter and music blaring. Nothing like a huge feast after an epic war games.

"Sorry Gwen. I didn't mean to-"

She shut me up by hugging me so hard I could barely breathe.

"Are you kidding!? It feels like years since I've actually been able to like-" she let me go and held me by my shoulders. Her face went from excitement to concern. "Look at you. Jason have you been sleeping?"

As a praetor, I should have kept my composure and assured her I had everything under control.

"Can we fly to the roof?" I asked her, as Jason.

She gave me a dry smile. "Sure."

I scooped her up and summoned the winds below to fly up and onto the roof of the mess hall.

"Whoa! Let me get ready first. Im not Reyna." Gwen laughed, she sat down.

I slumped next to her, ignoring her comment. "Gwen I'm so tired."

The playful look in Gwen's light blue eyes disappeared. In a different time, I would have laughed at her hair, which stuck out in weird directions like a super sayian. But I had no energy left in me.

How do I know what a Super Saiyan is? Well during our first quest and my early days as Praetor, Gwen showed and told me all about her hobbies...... ALL of them.

I was kind of jealous, I wish I hand time for hobbies. Especially cool ones like Gwen's.

"I can tell. Jason I was serious earlier, have you been sleeping?" Gwen asked, gently placing the back of her hand on my forehead.

I waved her hand away. Preparing to give her my default answer. Yes, I'm fine.

But that was a lie. I wasn't. Being a Praetor is hard work. Im tasked with delegating all of the cohorts duties for the week, approving war games plans, making sure inventory is in order (which is hilarious because we have almost no inventory of weapons to keep track of, I've had to set up a rental system and catalog every weapon leaving in and out of the armory), run daily mandatory meetings with the centurions (which is more like listening to shouting matches between cohorts arguing over resources and activities),

"I don't argue in those meetings." Gwen interrupted.

"I know your great but-"

"Yeah, yeah, keep going."

Approving quests to search for more resources, responsible for punishing campers that act out of line (and I sucked at it to) and so on.

"Wow Jason that's-"

And that's just the normal day to day activities.

"Oh your not done. Go on." Gwen said

That's not including all the extra projects I'm doing on the side. I've made it my mission to over turn the Patricide rule for Reyna. Gathering support for the cause has turned out to be harder then I realized. Everyday Im sitting in meetings with fellow campers and volunteers trying to think of strategies to drum up support for our cause, but they fall on deaf ears.
