".................... This is it? Mate, the greeks must have been phoning it in back in the day." Bronk complained as we walked through the narrow corridors of the labyrinth.
When we first entered through the labyrinth via the freezer, it had been an experience. When Bronk touched the door of the freezer, a blue delta symbol metalized on the door. The symbol was jarring to see, as it was the same symbol etched on Quintus's neck, before I stabbed him of course. Once the door opened, instead of a frozen room full of pre cooked burgers and French fries, we were greeted by a warm service tunnel that led into the abyss.
The novelty wore off quickly after we turned the same left corner for the tenth time.
Gwen, who held an arrow emanating light (because she could make her arrow as hot as the surface of the sun and could somehow still hold them in her hands), led us through the dark corridor we've walked down ten times already.
"I BET THIS LABYRINTH WILL MAKE US TURN LEFT DOWN THE SAME CORRIDOR AGAIN!" Bronk said loudly.
I stepped on the back of his shoe, forcing him to stumble a bit. "Bronk, tone it down, we don't know what's down here."
Bronk stuck his tongue out to me. "I'm just testing if the labyrinth reacts to voice commands is all, maybe Daedalus programmed it to have a sense of humor or something. I know I would do that."
Gwen sighed loudly. "Guess what Bronk?"
"What?"
"The labyrinth does have a sense of humor."
We preceded to make a right turn down a similar corridor.
"Wow, I guess your right Bronk. It does have a sense of humor." I said.
Gwen's arrow shut off suddenly, alerting Bronk and I. "There's a light ahead. Heads up Bronk."
Bronk giggled quietly and stuck his tongue out to me, I punched him in the arm.
True to her word, grey light glowed from a long rectangular viewing window to our left. Gwen was the first to peer through the window, waving us over once she confirmed it was safe for us to view.
"............ It's just another hallway." Bronk noted.
I was about to say something sarcastic, but then we all jumped once someone stopped to rest on the opposite side of the window.
Gwen and I slammed our hands on the window. "Jason!" We shouted in unison.
Jason was gasping for air, glancing every so often behind him, but he didn't recognize our presence. He looked terrible. His purple cloak was ripped and dirty, his golden breastplate was full of dents and golden ichor, and his face was laced in bruises and cuts. Jason's skin was paler then usual and the dark circles under his eyes were nearly black.
On the surface, he'd had only been gone for a few hours, but looking at him now, he looked like he'd been here for weeks.
Gwen and I pounded on the window, trying to get his attention. Bronk stepped forward. "It's bullet and sound proof, he can't hear you."
Bronk went into his book bag and pulled out a golden hammer. "Step aside ladies."
We did as he said. Bronk tapped the window, but nothing happen outside of his hammer turning black. Bronk whistled. "Oh this is some high grade material."
"How could a single tap tell you!?" I shouted. "We need to get to the other side now, look at him!"
Suddenly another person joined Jason. A young boy, a little older then Bronk, collapsed next to Jason. He had wild black hair and eyes, similar to Max, but his skin was nearly as pale as a sheet of paper. He wore a aviators jacket, black jeans and a black shirt with a white skull decorated on it.
