"Annabeth, your plan sucks." Bronk whined, tinkering with his metal spider.
Annabeth glared at him. "Do you have a better idea?" She leaned forward with her arms crossed. "Mate."
All eleven of us sat cross-legged around a campfire I had prepared for us. We ate marshmallows Bronk had packed in his seemingly bottomless book bag. Reyna sat to my right, eating marshmallows as quickly as possible while Argentum and Aurum rested on either side of her. She and Percy, who sat across from her, were involved in some kind of silent eating contest. Gwen sat to my left, laying out all of the supplies left in her fanny pack to take stock. Directly next to her sat Sam, snacking on his seemingly endless supplies of jelly beans.
Next to him sat Bronk, who pouted and moaned about Annabeth's plan underneath his breath while he tinkered with a mechanical spider. Next to him sat Rachel, who doodled on her jeans an angry blonde girl while she nibbled on the burning marshmallow. Nico sat besides her, staring at the flames while his marshmallow burned to a crisp, dissociated to what was going on around him. Standing next to him was Annabeth, who was directly across from me, laying out the final details of her plan.
That left the hundred handed giant named Braies and the cyclops Tyson to our right. Braies had multiple hands trying to feed him marshmallows, but they simply bounced off of his mouth. Tyson stared up at Braies like a small child, waiting for the giant to finally say something.
The faun... I mean satyr named Grover sat alone at the foot of the bed within the cavern. Gwen had given me a brief summary of what had happened before we arrived, but apparently a god named Pan had lived here.
Until he died, per the gods request, and Grover had to give him up.
"Jason, what do you think?"
I nearly jumped out of my skin. Annabeth stared at me with her fist resting on her hips. "Oh, uh, sorry. What we're you saying again?"
Annabeth sighed. "Am I the only one..... Okay, to keep it brief, we need to spilt up into teams of three. Team one needs to go to Daedalus' workshop and seize control away from Kronos and his goons. Team two needs to go to each camp and warn the remaining forces of a potential invasion in case team one fails. Team three needs to go to the garden of the gods and try to stop the war between Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter. Is that clear?"
I shrugged. "Sounds good to me."
Annabeth looked about ready to burst, but Reyna stood up. "Okay, Annabeth, lets settle down. Jason and Sam may be the Praetors, but I wear the pants on this side."
"OOOOOH," Percy exclaimed. "Buuuurn!"
The others laughed, including Sam. "Nah, she's right." Sam said and popped another jelly bean in his mouth.
Reyna winked at me and addressed the group. "The plan is about the only option we have. As much as I hate the idea of splitting up again, its the only way."
I smiled, blushing. "Sorry, I have a lot on my mind. The idea checks out with me. Now we just need to discuss the composition of each team."
Annabeth placed her hand beneath her chin. "You and Sam are obvious choices for team three. Having Camp Jupiter's Praetors united will throw a wrench into their formation, hopefully buying you sometime to negotiate some kind of peace deal with Camp Half-Blood."
Sam leaned forward. "Considering everything Max has done, he's not going to back down. Some of the legion are sternly behind him, which will mean trouble. Even with the two of us on the same side."
"What has Max done, exactly?" Percy asked while chewing on another marshmallow.
Sam was prepared to say something, but Annabeth interrupted. "I'll tell you later, seaweed brain."
