Chapter 22

The six men, Vanitas, Leon, Axel, Roxas, Riku, and Zoro all stepped out from the portal Axel had made. They all stood in a line, facing the large castle that contained the remaining nobodies. Vanitas hand was still shaking with anger as his yellow eyes narrowed at the large and gloomy castle.

"I'm going to kill every single one of those bastards." Vanitas hissed through his teeth.

Leon's hand was placed on the boys shoulder, telling him to calm down. "You know the plan. So don't let your anger go and destroy you. Follow the plan. Got it?"

Vanitas shrugged his hand off and simply nodded, not really listening to what Leon had to say. Leon sighed before turning his attention back toward the castle. Leon took a step forward to walk inside, but a portal appeared in front of him. Leon took a surprised step back as someone stepped out of the corridor.

Saïx approached them, his long blue hair waving with the soft wind. It was drizzling ever so slightly. Saïx let the droplets trickle down his face as he glared at all six people who were there.

"Foolish humans." Saïx stated with a shake of his head. "We all know you're here to kill us off."

Zoro stepped forward and punched his hand with a fist. He prepared himself and got into a fighting stance, glaring at Saïx. "The plan." Zoro said. His attention turned toward Vanitas, who stared back with wide eyes. "Take care of my sister..."

They were the last words Zoro said before he ran to attack Saïx. Saïx instantly summoned his claymore and the two were in a fierce battle. Leon jerked his head toward the entrance.

"Hurry!"

The remaining men ran into the castle, leaving Saïx and Zoro to fight. As they ran inside, they heard Saïx bellow, "You better hurry then! That foolish girl is ready to sacrifice herself TO KINGDOM HEARTS" Then laughter erupted and echoed throughout the empty area.

"I know exactly where that is!" Vanitas called out to the others. He began to run as fast as his legs could carry him, which slowly made himself further ahead than the others. "You guys keep going with the plan! I'm going to save Zara!"

No one could really argue, for Vanitas was already out of sight. He ran throughout the castle, slowly getting closer and closer to the top of the castle. Heartless appeared to slow him down while he ran, but Vanitas swiftly killed them and continued his search.

Xemnas, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus, and Saïx were all that was left of the Organization. Vanitas was extremely lucky to not have ran into them while he was searching. Although, that could have been Xemnas' plan all along. Vanitas didn't trust him for one moment, knowing that the old man had some trick up his sleeve.

That wasn't going to stop Vanitas from saving Zara. No matter what happened or who got in the way, Vanitas was going to save her. After all that has happened, and how much she helped him... Vanitas wasn't going to let them sacrifice her innocent heart to Kingdom Hearts! Vanitas couldn't help but think about her as he ran to her rescue. Her small and thin body, her cute smile, her silky hair, her beautiful face... Just the thought of her made his heart skip a beat.

"Zara... I'll save you... I promise." Vanitas panted, ignoring the burning sensation in his lungs begging for a break. "I'll do everything I can to keep you alive."

Before long, his stubbornness and determination brought him to the very top of the castle, where Xemnas resided. The superior heard Vanitas approaching, and stop his praising to Kingdom Hearts to turn around. Vanitas panted as he stood there, making eye contact.

"It's about time you showed up." Xemnas said, staring at Vanitas with his orange eyes. "We've been waiting."

"Where's Zara?!" Vanitas demanded, still attempting to catch his breathe.
