GTKYQ: What's your Hogwarts house?

"Am I....in trouble?"

A wizard.

It took my brain a few extra milliseconds to process what he had just revealed to me. I had spent the last four months combing through all the possibilities and coming up with as many rational theories as I could. I had tried to come up with something that, in my mind, made sense. Now, Severus was telling me that he was some sort of mythical creature with magical abilities?

Not exactly a reasonable theory that I would've come up with on my own.

I remembered that I had asked Blaire a few nights prior if she thought that wizards were real. I had concluded that to be a stupid question and I had tossed it out just as fast as it had came. There was no way that I had been on the right track. There was absolutely, positively no way that I had been right.

I have no idea how much time passed between Severus' confession and my initial verbal response. It wasn't until I noticed Severus looking at me through scared eyes and moving with anxious behavior that I realized that I hadn't said anything.

"A wizard." I replied, and while my tone was supposed to be questioning — it came out more of a statement of disbelief.

"Yes." He squeaked.

I continued to look at him with squinted eyes and furrowed brows. Severus Snape was claiming that he was a wizard. A wizard. Not the storybook kind, a real life wizard.

I wasn't sure what to do or say. I wondered for a moment if he was just messing with me. I mean, really? Was I really supposed to believe that I had been in the presence of a magical figure all this time? Wouldn't I have been able to see through it way sooner? Then as I actually thought about it, and much to my shock, it began to add up.

That explained his lack of identification or record. It also explained how he managed to keep coming back so often when I knew he wasn't even from London. Suddenly, the school that he was a teacher at made sense. His three word confession had given more explanations than I could dream up.

Most of all, it most definitely explained his secrecy.

Assuming that he was telling the truth, I had never encountered any wizards before to my knowledge. It was both enthralling and unsettling. I couldn't help myself. I don't know what made me react this way....but I started laughing.

It started as a muffled chuckle, because I didn't want him to think I was laughing at him. Before I could stop it, I was full on giggling from my stomach and tears were leaking out of my eyes. Severus went sickly pale at my sudden outburst, and he sighed in rejection.

"You think I'm insane." He stated.

"No! I don't-I don't think you're insane at all," I managed to reply through fits of laughter. "That was just- that was a lot to take at once."

I hadn't meant to discourage him in any way, but trust me when I say that you'd probably react the same way if somebody that you had grown to care for told you that.

The hard part for Severus was over. He had put it out for me to hear and he knew to proceed as cautiously as possible. His shoulders broadened and he straightened up as we continued to walk down the nearly empty sidewalk.

"I presume that you have questions." Severus remarked.

"A few," I snorted, my laughter finally wearing down. "Will any questions be unanswerable?"

He didn't really confirm nor deny with his answer.

"No, but also yes. Depends on the question," Severus claimed. "Some things are just too difficult to explain."
