Continuation to the previous short story! (I am having a little too much fun with short stories)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

A year has passed since the incident, I sat on my couch after such a tiring day of work. It was evening, so I decided to take a nap on the comfy couch. Just as I got comfy, the doorbell rang. I groaned whilst getting up from the couch. I approached the door and opened it. "Who is-" I stopped when I saw it was Hannah, but she had hair well done and was in a white wedding gown, though her expression was anything but happy. In fact, she was looking nervous and sad. "Congratulations??" I said in a confusing tone. She said, "N-no, t-that's not it!" she fell to her knees, holding my long pants. "Please, take me back!" she cried.

I was stunned at her actions. She wiped her head against my pants, her make-up and tears staining my pants. "Please stand up, what's going on?" I was confused and sympathised. She sobbed and between each sob, she said, "I...realised how much you loved me..." She said as she hugged me while burying her head into my chest.  I slowly stroked her brown hair and asked, "How so?" She went silent for a while and said, "On the day I left that day, I thought back to the time we got together until the day you proposed to me..." She cried a little more. "I doubted everything, because you always focus on working and I doubted that you loved me. Until that day, when you were willing to let me go." She hugged me tighter. "You let me go because you really loved me,you wanted to see me happier, wanted to see me smile."

"When he proposed to me two months ago at the park, I suddenly remembered you, proposed to me under the stars at your balcony, your smile was the widest I have ever seen. That's when I really missed you..." I remained silent at those words. Then she said, "So, please, please take me back! I know it has been a year, but we can start over,so please, take me back." Tears fell form her eyes and it kinda messed up her wedding dress.

"Sorry Hannah," I said, "I can't..." She looked up to me with sunken eyes as I showed my wedding ring. "I'm married now." I added whilst holding back tears of sympathy. "You moved on already?! How?!" She cried. I pat her head and said, "I chose to not dwell on the past." She sobbed and was speechless.

"Go to your wedding, you don't want to be late." I said. She asked, "Will you attend my wedding reception at the church?" Hannah asked. "I promise, I will." I said with a smile that Hannah has never seen in a long time. Hannah nodded and said, "See you there." As she rushed to her car and drove off. "Hmmm, my wife should be home by tonight before dinner, sadly she can't join the reception. And thank god she wasn't here either, it would've been so awkward."

I didn't have time to take a shower, I put on formal clothes and rushed to my car. The reception will begin in an hour but luckily the church wasn't too far away. Upon arriving, the place was filled with cars, I considered myself lucky to be able to find a spot to park. I shuffled through the unfamiliar crowd and at at a pew in one of the front rows of the church. Hannah walked by and our eyes met, but she immediately looked away and went out of the church. Soon the music began playing.

I watched as Hannah walked down the aisle, bouquet in hand and was trying her best to smile. As she stood in front of her soon-to-be husband, the priest read their vows and asked, "Anybody here are in objection to their marriage?"

Hannah immediately turned to me with expecting looks in her eyes, I knew she wanted me to object, but I just gave her a reassuring sad smile as an apology. Tears formed in her eyes reflecting the evening sunlight shining in. She closed her eyes and kissed her husband to hold back tears. After the ceremony, there was a wedding lunch in the church hall. I had no appetite to eat sadly. I walked over to Hannah who was walking around talking to her friends, away from her husband who was with his mates.

"Congratulations," I said to her whilst smiling. She smiled in return still a sad one though, she said, "Guess I'll be missing that smile of yours." followed by a peal of short and soft laughter. We walked side by side around the church, talking about each other's future. "Well I have to head off now," Hannah said. She was close to crying again. I hugged her and said, "It'll be alright, have fun." She kissed me on the lips one last time before waving goodbye to me and heading off.

I waved back and put my hands back in my pockets and walked back to my car then drove off.
