Chapter - 12

We all went up the deck and scanned the sea . once again another explosion took place under water and I sighed , dad has his own worries and here I am wondering why dad didn't allow me to come and help him . wow what a daughter am I ? "we better go down or we will be pushed off the ship if an explosion goes under our ship . " Caspian said . everyone followed but I thought of staying , a thirty foot fall of the ship wouldn't kill me . everyone went down except one , the most stubborn but my favourite from the Pevensies . Edmund might have sensed my worry so he might have decided to stay . " Any problem ? " He asked politely . I looked at him and smiled , "just the disappointment that my dad is fighting down below and I cannot do anything from up here . " I said shrugging and looking down to the sea . my hair flopped on my face and covered my eyes . I saw Edmund smile and stand beside me , his hands on the railing . "Just to let you know , I'll be with you no matter what . "he said smiling at me and he placed his hand over mine . I was happy to have him here , finally someone on this ship understands me . "so ..... "he said scratching the back of his neck . he looked kind of cute and funny at the same time . I knew he wanted to start a conversation but I had nothing in my head . "uh .... " I said awkwardly . Edmund laughed bending his head , "come on Victoria , that's what you say to this dashing young man ? " He said guest urging his arms dramatically at him . I laughed as well , "well what do you want to know about me ?" I asked . " Well your brother Percy seems to be quite famous . " He said .

"Well , he is back with the gods and the Greek and Romans . "
"How famous ? "
"So famous that he saved their butts like about a million times . "
" Well he must be really special back at camp "
"He is , but that comes with many consequences , we're children of the big three and he's the first to reach the age of sixteen so many prophecies are dealing with him , "
"Well that about you ? "
I shrugged , " Well I'm Poseidon's second child so I too have many to deal with as well "
"Well do you think you can survive the prophecies? "
"Well every quest I go on I can taste my death . "
Edmund laughed and looked at me closely his stare sincere . I looked down unable to stop my self from blushing . Edmund lifted my chin with his fingertips and turned,me towards the sea
"You see , " He said , his voice almost in a whisper . " You own all these ,what else would you ask for ? " He asked .
I looked down , I've always wished for a normal life , with no monsters to follow me and no quests and prophecies to fulfil . " Well you'll understand if your a demigod , no monsters following you , no prophecies , no quests . nothing. just to live a normal life is my only dream . " I said deep in thought . Edmund nodded his head as if he understood . I smiled to myself , Edmund acts like a mature young man but deep down he's a young dangly boy at heart . I stared at the sea and we both saw a nereid laugh at us from under , she was stringing pearls to chord which I think was for a necklace . she waved her hand at us and Edmund waved back . he was pink all over and the nereid giggled as she swam away . I looked at Edmund , "huh ! She gotcha heart ? " I said jokingly . Edmund was still staring at the direction from where the nereid went but he turned , "God no ! " He said "it not always someone so rare waves to you . "he said . I nodded and laughed "nereids are sort of our relatives as well , " I said looking at him for an explosion. Edmund just stared at me stunned and in shock but it quickly dissolved . " We've known you for really long do you think I wouldn't adapt to your funny relations ? "He asked and I laughed.

We heard voices below the deck and we went down to see . everyone had their swords drawn out and was staring at something like a black mist . I looked at it and gasped , it was the voice of darkness but something was inside it pushing the crew off the ship and stomping on the others . I turned to look at Edmund who had realisation and hatred on his face . I looked at him and he chewed his lip in response . the dark mist was moving towards us rapidly a staff aimed at us , I wanted to run but I couldn't , my eyes were plastered on the mist and my legs felt weak . the mist was nearing me and whatever was inside brought chills down my spine . "Victoria!!! " Edmund shouted but he felt far away . "oh my price ! " The voice said , this time more powerful and female . I gasped as the staff was raised and a spell was said I had no time to run and I couldn't . "you die ! " The voice said but I felt Edmund pull me back with all his effort to the far corner of the ship and cover me with his whole body . I felt flames erupt , which was worse than super steam ( trust me one of my quests with Nico was to go past a geyser with super steam and the experience hadn't been good ) . I heard sailors roar in pain and terror . I didn't want them or anyone to suffer , I heard Susan and Lucy cry out as well . I knew what I had to do , I concentrated on the sea and water every where around me . I felt strength rushing into my bone and a tingling feeling in my gut . a huge wave rushed into the boat and I heard a loud bash . Edmund was still holding me tight but I heard sounds of the others being washed away .

"Grab onto whatever you can ! " Shouted Caspian and I had a feeling that there was nothing to hold onto , but the water protected me and Edmund fine . I didn't want to get anyone hurt but it was the only way to send whoever dark spirit that was causing havoc to go away . I heard the woman scream in terror as she disappeared . and the cries of the sailors were victorious but they had terror edged in them . the last thing I heard was nothing except Edmund's heart beat beating fast ......
