I woke up to the sun shining through the windows that lined one of the walls. I tried to pretend that I was still asleep when I remembered what was happening today.

"I saw you," Emma whispered, earning a groan in reply.

"No you didn't," I said lazily.

I opened my eyes and stared out at the world through the strands of hair that had fallen on my face as I slept.

"Come on we have to go," Emma said as she brushed her long red locks and tied them back into a ponytail.

"Okay, Okay, just let me get ready," and I tried to get up but my body was engulfed into a flame of pain. I winced and pushed through the pain to sit up, Emma noticed and said,

"It's bad isn't it?"

Emma and I shared a room, since we were the only two girls in our group we got it to ourselves and it is one of the reasons we are such good friends now.

Before I knew it we were standing in front of Mark and listening to his briefing. Basically he was telling us that we would be paired up with another group and sent to a certain part of town with a list, a radio and a weapon for everyone who has a power that can't kill a corpse.

"Shit, can you shoot a gun Niki," Tyler asked suddenly sounding stressed, like he just realised he forgot something really important,

"Yeah," I said.

He gave me a sigh of relief in reply then said, "Okay, good, what type?"

"I think it was a, um... handgun?" I said unsure.

"Yep, I'll get an automatic one if there's one there."

He went on to ask Felix, Emma and Ryan the same question.

Tyler came back with three guns and a knife. He handed Emma, Felix and I a gun and bag of ammo each and Ryan got the knife.

"Make sure everyone is ready then Claire will give you your map and list," Mark told Tyler, "I'll go find Eva."

Tyler looked at us and grimaced, sweat beading on his forehead and upper-lip. He knew we weren't ready and that scared me even more than I was before. I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat.

"This is Eva," Mark said as he came back, "Try to leave as soon as possible," and then he left.

"Well that was Helpful," Tyler grumbled under his breath before saying, "Hi you must be Eva"

"And you must be Tyler," She said cheerfully, "This is my group, Summer, Wolf, Leila, Tiger, Tim, Rhino and Will, Bear."

"This is Felix, cold, Ryan, transforming, Dylan, Weapon Morphing, Emma, Heat, and Niki, X-Ray," he said back, while not so subtly eyeing her low cut shirt.

"Well I've got the map and the list, it looks like we're going to the south side of town to the hospital and the hardware store," she said not noticing Tyler staring down her boobs.

"Are we walking?" I piped up as soon as we started walking towards the gate, almost sounding like a spoilt brat, but I knew how far the hospital was from the school.

"No, we have busses," Eva replied simply, almost rudely.

-------------------------------------------

We all loaded onto the dull grey busses, we passed the guard acting as a bus driver as we loaded onto the bus. Just as I suspected, no air-con, no seatbelts, which probably wasn't safe considering the high likeliness of hitting a corpse. I sat in the back with Emma, Felix, Ryan and Dylan, we got into the bus first so we filled up the back seat. The hard, leather, seats were boiling hot from baking in the sun all day. Felix didn't feel the heat though, when we jumped up away from the scorching heat he just sat there.
