“First of all I will have to try and find out more about your powers, except for Dylan and Emma who came from another group to help us, you guys can train over there,” Tyler said and pointed over to a shady area under some purple flowering trees, “I will see you one at a time starting with… Ryan, the rest of you can go and sit over by the trees.”

We all nodded slightly and all, except Ryan, headed over to the trees.

“And you guys,” Tyler said pointing to Felix and me, “watch what the other two are doing, you are going to have to memorise it and repeat it every day.”

“So…” Felix said after running to catch up to me, “Mel was a bit of a… Shock, I mean her being in a coma.”

“Yeah…” I replied, trying to hide the sadness in my voice but he seemed to hear it.

“Ummm… so what did you do before all of this happened? Hobbies, interests, stuff like that,” He asked trying to change the subject as we reached the trees and sat down.

“I basically just played games all day instead of doing my homework.” I replied, “Completely off topic but what power do you have?”

“Cold, I froze my corpse,” he answered.

“Oh my god, really? Can you cool me down,” I asked, it was nearly summer and even under this shady tree, the still air was muggy, like it was going to rain.

“I don’t know, I’ll try,” he said and I closed my eyes as he raised his hand up and I felt a slight, cool, breeze.

“Ahhhh, that’ll come in handy in the summer,” I sighed, opening my eyes.

“What about you, what power do you have?” he asked.

“I … I don’t know,” I replied, confused, “I don’t even remember anything from in The Cage, all I know is I was in there and I survived.”

“Ok, that’s strange,” he said back, equally as confused. We both turned our attention to Emma and Dylan training. I zoned out for a bit, daydreaming about nothing, until I heard Felix saying my name.

“Niki. Niki. Niki!” he said waving his hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance. I saw Ryan laying under the tree, obviously exhausted and Felix didn’t look much better. Emma and Dylan were also sitting under the tree, trying to catch food with their mouth after the other threw it in the air, cheering whenever they caught one.

“Your turn,” he said, sounding exhausted. I stood up too quickly and my eyes stopped working for a second. As I waited for it to pass I looked up towards where I thought The Cage was and saw something very strange. I saw a blurry outline of about thirty corpses. I jumped and rubbed by eyes in disbelief. When I took my hands off my face I saw The Cage again and Tyler but completely normal. I dismissed it thinking it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, except that it was broad daylight and even when its dark nothing like that happens.
