They Bite

Chapter 7- Learning...

"Shit, shes gonna turn, I knew this was going to happen, why the hell did we invite two fucking eleven year old's into our group," Jenna hissed,

"No, shes not going to turn," Jason Hissed back like he didn't hear the second part, his voice sleep deprived and anxious, "its not like with Kyle, shes still alive, and she wasn't bitten,"

"guys shes awake," Rose said,

"see I told you," Jason said,

"ow my head," i said as I sat up slowly.

"No sweetie," Rose said and pushed me back down, "you need to sleep, but you may have a concussion so i'll wake you up later,"

I slept like a log. Rose woke me up twice then it was morning.

"Rose?" i asked when i woke up the third time,

"yes, what is it?" she asked,

"what happened?" I asked, my head was throbbing.

"you will have to ask Jason, but I don't know..." she trailed off, "just go ask him,"

I walked out confused, what did she mean by, but I don't know?

Jason was in the Ute. I tapped on the glass to let him know I was coming, then opened the door.

"You OK Mel?" he asked,

"yeah but what happened, i don't remember. all i remember is us swimming then we had to go back then... nothing,"

"a corpse grabbed your hair then... I don't know what happened, but you grabbed its head and it didn't move again. You didn't even snap its neck it just... stopped. But you did hit your head pretty hard so I'm not surprised that you don't remember." he said,

What? how is that possible? I thought

"Rose and Jenna don't believe me because Niki wasn't there to back me up,"

"where is Niki," i asked remembering that i haven't seen her since this has happened

"She went into you guy's room after we got back, I think she was in shock or something, anyway she fell asleep and is probably still asleep." he said, "why don't you find her and then I can teach you both how to drive,"

"REALLY?" I said.

"Oh yeah you don't remember, that's what we were talking about when we were coming back from the dam," he said, "you reacted the same too,"

I went inside and found Niki. She was still sleeping so I woke her up.

"Mel you... I don't know... you killed..." she stuttered sleepily.

"I know, Jason told me, he is going to teach us how to drive."

"oh yeah, lets go," She said enthusiastically.

We ran back out to the Ute where Jason was waiting,

"I CALL GOING FIRST," I yelled and poked my tongue out at Niki.

"Then I get to ride in the back," she said and poked her tongue out at me.

"Fine, but you'll have to hold on tight," Jason said.

Jason taught us the basics. We only really needed to know how to change the gears and use the pedals because the steering was similar to the go-kart I had.

"OK, now should I teach you how to shoot a corpse," Jason said,

"YESSSSSSSSS," we yelled at the same time,

"No jinxing, you guys are connected or something," he said,

He taught us all the ways to kill a corpse that he had learned, but one main thing.

Aim for the brain.

By the time we had finished it was getting dark.

"Do you think we can o into the town tomorrow morning," Niki asked him,

"maybe, go get some cans open for dinner then we will decide in the morning," He replied,

For the first time in a long time we slept easy.
