2 Weeks Later...

"We cant stay here forever," Jason said calmly to Jenna as we were sitting on the small deck. They were arguing but were too tired to raise their voice above a regular conversation level, the anger was also gone. We spent most of our spare time out here, sitting on the floor, admiring the mountains and sunset. Even though our small house was so remote, we still had built a basic wall out of random pieces of wood we found in the sheds just in case the corpses found us. We also had boards on all the glass doors and windows.

"There's that Ute in the shed, we can go up to the town," she replied,

"I guess," he said back, "but we have no idea what its like back there, it could be a town full of corpses for all we know,"

Niki and I, having no fighting skills, had to stay at the house and cook, plant vegetables, hammer in SO many boards and look after the fire.

We were all so tired from not being able to sleep, nightmares were a big problem too. Mainly for Niki and I.

"Why don't you two stop arguing like children and relax," Rose said calmly.

Just as she did though small drops of rain started dripping on us, then it started bucketing down.

"EVERYONE GRAB A BOWL OR SOMETHING," Jason yelled over the roar of the rain hitting the roof. We all ran inside grabbed a bowl or a pot and put it outside on the deck. After the bottled water ran out, To get drinkable water we had to boil water and let it cool, but since it was so hot it didn't cool much and we had to drink warm water. To cool off we usually walked to one of the dams on the property and went swimming.

After we had all the bowls and pots and anything that could hold water, that we found in the house, we want inside and dried off then tried to sleep.

Niki and I woke up when the sun was peeking through the cracks in the boards covering the windows. We shared the room that once belonged to a teenage girl by the looks of it. posters of boy bands, make up, jewellery, lots of clothes that we helped ourselves to, even though they didn't fit too well. Jenna and rose shared the other room and Jason slept next to the door in one of the sleeping bags. the adults stopped taking turns watching after nothing happened for the first week but Jason wasn't so sure that was a good idea, even though we were too far away from anywhere for there to be many corpses around.

Jason, Jenna and Rose had already collected all the water from the storm and were pouring it into the empty bottles.

"morning," said Jason when he saw us.

"morning," we said tiredly while yawning.

"how did you sleep girls," asked rose

"good," i said

"that's funny, i slept lying down with my eyes closed," rose said giggling.

"aww that's not fair, we're too tired," I said.

"Now is not the time for jokes, if you haven't noticed the dead a up on their two legs and walking," Jenna snapped, she always went out of her way to make sure we were working, ALWAYS, and tell us off for the smallest things, "Niki, Mel, you two need to start a new fire and water the garden."

We did as we were told and walked into the kitchen, we had made the electric oven into a fire place, and made a chimney out of a piece of roofing from one of the sheds. we did as we were told and piled in new fire wood and some dry grass, we used a lighter and lit the grass on fire. it took a few tries but eventually we had a fire going so we partially closed the door of the oven and went to get the water for the garden. to get the water we had to climb up on the water tank and lower a bucket down using a rope, the bucket had a rock in it so it sunk and actually got the water.

We climbed up the tank using a chair then pulling ourselves up.

"remember when we climbed on your tank last time we were at your house?" i asked

"of course, how could i forget it was like three weeks ago," she said,

"yeah, we were having sleepovers every weekend," i said smiling, but then stopped, "how did it change so quickly?" i asked, there was a silence as we thought about it

"we need to go into town to find them, our parents, friends, everyone who isn't dead." she said sadly,

we stopped the conversation there, before it got too depressing, and got the water and then watered the vegetables, they were just poking out from the ground, it was going to be a long tome before we had fresh food.

After we finished we went back inside. Jenna and Jason were arguing again, except real this time.

"WHY CAN'T WE JUST GO INTO TOWN FOR LIKE HALF AN HOUR," Jenna yelled,

"BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW WHAT'S BACK THERE, AND WE HAVE ENOUGH FOOD FOR NOW," Jason yelled back,

"ITS NOT ABOUT FOOD, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I HAVE FAMILY THAT COULD BE BACK THERE," Jenna yelled.

She hit a nerve.

Jason pushed his way through the door and ran off towards the dam.
