The drive to the city was agonizingly boring but at the same time it was nerve-racking. I was used to having something to do when we drove but we didn't have anything like that. Jason was driving the Ute ahead of us and the rest of us were in the 4WD. We stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs but that was about it. We were used to going without food now.

We finally arrived at the outskirts of the town weaving through the abandoned cars and bodies. we stopped to fill up the cars every now and again.

When we reached the center of the city the traffic was so bad and the cars were abandoned so we had to go on foot.

We walked a couple of blocks looting cars as we went. Until I saw the corner store from my dream.

"We have to go in there," I said starting to walk towards it.

"What are you doing Mel?" Jason asked, but is didn't respond and kept walking towards it. I opened the door and everyone followed me in.

My heart rate picked up as I got to the fire door and looked back at Jason and the image of him as a corpse flashed through my mind. The lights flickered on and off quickly.

"what was that?" Rose asked,

"I don't know..." Jason replied, they both looked at the light and around the room.

"The power went off for good, I think, two weeks ago, How can it suddenly come back on?" Jenna asked.

"We should get out of here," Rose said looking nervous.

We walked out the door slowly, we all were thinking the same thing. What happened? Was it the end? We're the corpses gone? Where did everyone go? Why did the lights turn on?

Some of our questions were answered when we stepped out and a girl who looked about six or seven years old, was standing outside the door.
