It was surreal for Feli to be calling someone as her boyfriend. Sure, she had some crushes before. A few admirers here and there. But after some time, they would find themselves better suited as friends and not lovers.
No one really stayed and wooed her. And nobody made her heart beat erratically as Kai did hers.
Soon enough Feli was aware that most of her firsts would be with Kai. Just last week she changed her Facebook status from "Single" to "In a relationship"—another first with him. She felt giddy reading the words.
Not only was she happy but her best friends were, too. They immediately sent her a message through their group chat congratulating her. Surprisingly—or because there was something to gossip about—everyone was online that evening so they had a video call.
"Oh, so Terry knew about this?" Leorie whispered. It seemed that she was in the university library.
"Yeah. I helped her bake a cake for the guy," Terry then made a puking gesture. She disliked romantic sweetness and had only appreciation for something sweet when it comes to food.
"Nice. Giving gifts never fails to show your efforts," Sammy, who was off cam, murmured back.
"Really thoughtful indeed, Feli. I'm sure he appreciated it. Now tell us what happened last Valentine's," Josie whispered excitedly.
If Feli could blush, she knew that she would. But since her complexion would not permit her so, the only indication of her bubbling excitement was her wide smile. She couldn't even stop grinning even if she tried.
"Well, you see, we met at the airport—" she began whispering.
"Hold up. Why are you whispering?" Leorie hissed quietly.
"Because you're in the library," Josie pointed out.
"I'm wearing earphones. No one will hear you," she said.
"Oh, you should've told us," Feli replied using her normal speaking voice. "As I was saying..."
She recounted what happened from the airport to the restaurant, from Kai's confusion on Aaron's absence to Feli's explanation. She even told them how Kai and she hugged for the first time.
"That's some physical intimacy you got there," Leorie commented. "Good for you."
"Are you sure the two of you only hugged?" Terry asked meaningfully.
"I'm sure. I was there," Feli chuckled. "And even if we did something more, I wouldn't share. That would be TMI for you girls."
Everyone agreed. Even if they knew almost everything about one another, some things are kept private as a sign of respect to the privacy of the other person.
They didn't like to kiss and tell especially if the people involved were long term partners like Josie's husband, Benjamin. Ben became their friend and they knew that he value his privacy.
In Sammy's case, she generally didn't share about her boyfriend. They only knew his name and face. They hadn't even met the guy in person.
And Leorie was always with books. So there was nothing to share.
The only one who openly shared about sexual endeavors was Terry and only because her partners were unkown to them. They were some unnamed stranger so it was easy to talk about them.
"We're happy that you're happy," Sammy said.
"I hope the long distance relationship that you both have will last. I hate to say this but most LDR is prone to cheating," Leorie skeptically commented.
