It took a while before Feli's father could be discharged from the hospital. He was slowly recovering at home with his wife taking care of him. In the first few days, their karinderya had been temporarily closed but now, they were slowly getting back on track.
Feli demanded her siblings to pack their things and go back to Albay. She didn't want August and Andre to miss any classes so she made them attend the university and only visited on the weekends.
Moreover, she had to force Fatima to concentrate on her review since the exam would be in a week. She told her sister and J.R. that she would regularly update them of their father's recuperation. They need not worry because she and Aaron were at home to help their Mama.
"Hey, I couldn't contact you by messenger. We need to be in touch for the team building activity," her colleague, Michael, asked. He sat beside her in the English teacher's office.
"I deactivated my account. I haven't activated it yet. Maybe later," she replied absentmindedly.
"Okay. Just message me later so that I can add you to the group chat."
"Thanks."
Ever since her father's accident, she had been messaged by several co-teachers and students. Even the nosy neighbors kept on asking what happened. Although her colleagues and students meant well by wishing her father a fast recovery, she couldn't stand the other people who were just blatantly fishing for gossip.
To stay away from the noise, she left messenger for the time being.
"No prob. By the way, how's Tito Antonio?"
"He's recovering pretty well. But he is still stubborn as ever. He wanted to stand up and be busy. But Mama scolded him," she chuckled.
"Oh? I imagine he submitted," he presumed.
"Yeah. He waved the imaginary white flag in defeat."
They had an easy conversation and she was thankful for it. Even for a moment, It distracted her mind from the pressure.
"Alright, that's the sound of freedom," Michael uttered when the dismissal bell rang.
"Thanks for accompanying me. I honestly needed it," she mumbled.
"It's no big deal. You've always been going out of your way just to help those around you. Also, you look like you need sleep," he replied as he fixed his things inside his bag.
"I do. I'll get some later," she said. The hospital bills and doctor fees had been paid but she was still wide awake at night.
She was supposed to pay them via installment since the private hospital agreed for a promissory note but Kai had none of it. Mr. Yachiko transferred funds towards her bank account which meant that she would only have to think about the maintenance medicine and the private nurse assisting her mother.
Meanwhile, Feli was dreading going home. She wanted to check on her family but at the same time, she didn't want to face her parents. They would surely ask her to thank Kai again and they planned to pay him back in the future when everything else is settled.
Her Mama would ask her how Kai was doing and her Papa would insist that he chats with him. Oftentimes, Feli would say that her boyfriend was doing okay and that he was just too busy for chatting or visiting.
But those were lies because she had no idea if he was indeed fine or preoccupied. How could she know when they hadn't been on speaking terms since his last visit?

"Spill the tea," Terry demanded as soon as she arrived at Sammy's house.
"Can I atleast sit down first?" Feli asked sarcastically.
