"Can you call your peoples now geni?" I asked her softly while stroking her hair as she laid her head on my lap.

"I want it to be just us right now" she said looking up at me.

"Ok well can we talk then?"

She didn't answer.

"G"

"Ni no. Please" she said sitting up.

"Geni we gonna have to talk about it soon"

She grabbed her head in frustration and then started chewing on her lip.

"G-"

"Just go get letters MoNique".

I nodded before slowly getting up and going to her car.

In her passenger seat under a big cover, it was a green bucket filled with folded lined paper.

I grabbed it and went upstairs.

She sat on the island fiddling with her fingers.

"You want me to read now?"

She nodded and I took a seat on the floor by her feet.

(Random date that was 1 week after she left)
I hope you're happy. I know it hasn't been long but I hope you're happy.
I can imagine you smiling wide as hell right now as you push her on the swing type shit.
Buying her ice cream then smushing it on her face all that corny shit.
It's corny but cute.
Anything to see you happy though.

Bye Monique.

After reading that note, I sat it down and picked up the next one.

(19 days after she left)
Gosh life is hard as fuck right now. Part of me wish I never left you. I never lost the baby.
The larger part patting me on the back for doing what's right.
I swear I hope you're happy man. I hope you living you're best life.

I gotta stop writing to you as if you're ever gonna see them.

Bye Monique.

You know I wouldn't even be mad if you burned my clothes or tossed them over the balcony. Or better yet sold them all.

"G these letters aren't telling me what I need to know" I told her skimming through the rest of the letters.

I got up and went to the sink dumping them all in it.

Geni had her back facing me so she couldn't see what I was doing.

I lit one and dropped it into the sink and watched as all of them burned.

"Monique what the hell" she got up rushing to my area.

She turned the water on the notes, putting the fire out and turned to me.

"Those were my feelings" she said softly.

"G I need you to tell me how you're feeling"

"I did" she said pointing to the letters.

"I said tell not write"

She buried her head in her hands and leaned on the counter.

I rubbed her back and went into my room.

Grabbing some shorts, underwear, wife beater and a bra and went into the bathroom.

I brushed my teeth again before getting in the shower, getting out then washing my face.
