Finna be hella time jumps.
After 2 long weeks I'm just now getting to see and talk to Nique.
They moved her to some jail up north but not too far.
We got her a lawyer but she hasn't gone to trial yet.
They say she has 25+ years, but she could get out a little earlier on "good behavior".
We all know what that mean, but Nique ain't no snitch. And even if she was there's nothing she can snitch on. She doesn't know much, hell nothing at all since she moved here.
Hopefully a miracle happens.
"I.D. ?"
I handed the man my id and he opened it for me.
I sat down and waited nervously as fuck.
I looked up and saw her walking towards me.
Look at my damn baby. Look what this shit doing to her. She looked paler than ever. She had dark circles under her eyes and her wild hair looked dry and brittle.
"Hey Genesis"
I touched her face. "Hey baby. How is it?"
"I'm fine" she kind of pulled away.
"I miss you so much"
She just nodded.
"You okay?"
She nodded again, avoiding eye contact.
"Nique?"
"Yeah?"
"You mad at me?"
"You want me to be real?"
"Why?"
"Yeah"
"Are you mad at me cause your in jail?"
"No im mad at you cause you don't listen"
"When have I not listened to you?"
"That day"
"What day Monique?"
"That day I told you to calm down. And to go get in the car"
"Oh so you saying this whole situation is my fault?"
She didn't say anything.
I nodded. "Wow"
"Don't wow. Had you would've listened you-"
"So you're mad at me cause we got pulled over and some shitty ass cop pulled some bs and I caught on to it?"
"No im mad that you seen me get hurt. I'm mad that you got hurt"
"MoNique. I'm okay. I survived"
"Genesis do you know how painful it was to watch somebody lay your first love flat out on the ground?"
"NIQUE DO YOU KNOW HOW PAINFUL IT WAS TO SEE HIM DO YOU LIKE THAT"
The officer eyed me.
"I was fine"
"So was I"
"And.. and you're getting mad at me when I was literally doing exactly what I said I was gonna do. I told you I had your back through everything, did I not?" I added.
"You did. But you shouldn't-"
"But i did. You wanna know why. Cause I love you Nique. I do"
"I love you too Geni. I love you so much that it's hurting me that you're seeing me like this"
"Fuck the judge, fuck the officers, fuck the system, fuck the state. Fuck this whole thing. Me and you both know you didn't kill that girl so I don't give a fuck about seeing you in this condition" I told her.
"Alright time to go" the officer told me.
"I love you Nique" I kissed her hand and left out before the officer put his hands on me and I would've been right with her.
"I love you too Genesis" she yelled out as I walked away.
I walked out of the building crying.
1year later.
On collect call.
"Hey baby"
"Her ma. How you doing?"
"I'm good. How you holding up?"
"Same as I was yesterday when I talked to you" I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Don't be smart. Forreal though. Update me"
"Well um. I worked out yesterday and I finally ate something other than this nasty ass jail food"
"Oh really. How come?"
"In the club im in. The designer club. They brought us food"
"That's nice"
"Yeah. Update me on you"
"Well, I applied for my second year of college yesterday and of course I got accepted"
"What school? The same one?"
"Yeah"
"That's good to hear mama"
Collect call. You have 2 mins left.
"Well baby I gotta go"
"I know. Before you go I just want you to know im still fighting for you and I Love You"

"I miss you so much"
"I miss you more ma. Im going to marry you when I get out.. okay"

I got cut off by the collect call ending.
I gathered myself and headed to my dorm.
"G you tryna party tonight? I got somebody I want you to meet" my friends roommate said.
"You know im in a committed relationship. Hell no"
"Girl your 'girl' been in jail since we met and she ain't getting out no time soon. You might as well get some new pussy. Or dick". I looked at her out.
"Nah. Dess, im gonna head out for i lose my scholarship" I told destiny. (Friend)
The roommate eyed me and I eyed her ass back. Tf.
