Chapter 26: sister

Harper took a lot of courage to step close to the little girl reading books.

"Hell-loe?" He doesn't know what to say, but he has to get the kid's attention so they can finally leave this library at once.

"Gege!" Eri immediately stood up, giving him a hug. Harper was surprised that he just stood there like a statue. The kid looks so opposite from what she looks like when she's reading books: dead serious.

"Uhh.." He can't find any words to say. Eri looked at him in bewilderment.

"This is weird. Eri doesn't know who you are, but I know that you're my gege."

"I'm.. I'm Zachary."

Eri shook her head. "Lying is bad, gege."

"How can you say that I'm lying?"

"You don't seem sure about your words. Zac Ge doesn't like perfumes, and Zyle Ge smells like lemon."

"And I smell like?"

"You smell like Lolo Feifei."

Harper was stunned upon hearing the name. Did the kid just describe him as similar to the man he was always taught to hate?

Harper sighed. "Pick your things. We're going back home."

"But I want to stay here"

"No."

"Ge, just ten minutes"

"Five minutes."

"No, fifteen minutes."

"Four minutes."

"Twenty minutes!"

Harper sighed. "Fine, twenty."
The kid chuckled with joy as she took her seat back to the floor.

"Come, gege. I found a very great book!" she said, picking up a cartoon book with a large mammoth drawn in the front page. "Come, sit here," she added, excitedly tapping the floor beside her. Harper had no choice but to do so. "Do you want Eri to read you a story?"

"Even if I say no, you'll probably still read it."

"I will!" Eri made a squishy smile as her fingers flipped to the first page.
"Once upon a time..."

Despite hating literatures, Harper actually listened to his sister as she narrates the story. He didn't notice the time running by as he was on ears intently.

"So that tiger; Diego, chose to leave his pack in exchange for ones he's not even similar in breed with." Harper said after the story was finished.

"Yup! And I'm happy for him. He chose people who actually value him, not the ones who are just using him"
Eri paused "...or forcing him."

For a while, Harper started to wonder about Eri's age. It's weird seeing someone like her, understanding things at a young age. Hearing the story, he starts to ponder. Can he really do it? Can he really leave his life back in the mansion and return to the family where he originally belongs?

A simple restaurant lies within the trees surrounding it. There inside, are two people casually talking while having their meals.

"So? How's the training in Hyena?" Zyle asked with his camera pointed at Coleen.

"Hindi mo naman siguro kailangan i-video?"

"Oh come on, I won't upload this, promise. This is all for future purposes. Someday, you'll go back and watch this video."

"Sige na, oo na" ngiti na lamang ni Coleen. She cleared her throat at inayos ang pag upo.
