february 5th. esmeray's birthday and the nhl all-star game.
jack was excited for the day, as was esmeray, but jack was more excited for the dinner he had managed to arrange the night before.
after the game, esmeray, jack, his parents, trevor, brekken, and brekken's father would all be going out to dinner and hopefully surprising esmeray in the process.
"ready to go?" jack asked esmeray who was looking at her outfit in the mirror. she was wearing a pair of ripped jeans, one of jack's jerseys, and a pair of white vans.
"mhm." esmeray grabbed her bag and took jack's hand as they left their hotel room. this time, esmeray would be sitting by the benches-front row seat.
"happy birthday by the way. i know we haven't seen each other all day." jack kissed her.
"thank you." esmeray smiled.
when they got the arena, jack went towards the locker room and esmeray was left with an hour to find her seat and get something to eat.
she got in line and patiently waited to order her food. it didn't take long and she was soon sitting in her seat, waiting for the players to come out for warmups.
esmeray saw jack out of the corner of her eye and he skated over to her.
"you look hot in your jersey." esmeray told him. jack chuckled and rolled his eyes.
"you look hot in my jersey." jack flirted. esmeray blushed and took her phone out to take a picture. jack tried to skate away but esmeray got one in before he turned around.
the players were called into the locker rooms before the game so they could introduce them all.
esmeray patiently waited for jack's name to be called. she took her phone back out and recorded him skating around.
she was proud of her boyfriend for how far he has come and for how much he was devoted to hockey, yet still making time for his girlfriend and family.
the game started and esmeray put her full attention on the game. as much as she wanted to follow jack the whole time, her eyes were on the puck.
she made mental notes of who had the puck last, who was shooting on goal, and who was scoring goals.
when jack got the puck and scored, esmeray cheered for him. she was sure going to be telling the devils players about this because jack wouldn't tell them about it.
esmeray made sure to take lots of pictures, wanting to show them off later.
the metro won the first game, so they had to wait around until the second game ended to play in the final game.
esmeray killed some time by watching the second game and by browsing the stores at the arena.
the final game was about to start and esmeray paid full attention to the game.
the game ended up with the metro winning 5-3. jack had a goal and an assist and esmeray couldn't be more proud.
she took her time getting ready knowing that jack would have to have his conference before leaving.

esmeray slung her purse over her shoulder and made her way out to the front. jack was standing there waiting for her and esmeray hugged him when she got to him.
"you did amazing. im so proud of you." esmeray told him.
"thank you. it was a lot of fun." jack said. "we're going out for dinner too."
"im not even dressed nice." esmeray frowned.
"don't pout, we're going back to the hotel to change." jack chuckled.
esmeray quickly changed into a nicer outfit, as did jack, and soon they were off to the restaurant.
jack texted trevor, letting the group know they were about to be there.
"i've heard this place is nice." esmeray said as they walked in the front doors.
"me too." jack agreed. they walked into a back room and esmeray noticed all the people.
"happy birthday!" they all said. esmeray smiled and looked over at jack who was smiling.
"you did this?" she asked. jack nodded his head and hugged her.
"i love you so much." she said.
"i know this isn't an ideal birthday because i know you want your friends here, but this was the closest we could get." jack explained.
