"almost ready?" jack asked from the doorway. esmeray looked back at her boyfriend and smiled.
"one second." she stood up from the vanity and went over to her dresser and grabbed a necklace.
"can you help me put it on?" esmeray asked. she turned around and pushed her hair to the side. jack put the necklace around her neck and locked it together.
"there," jack smiled, "ready now?"
esmeray nodded her head and grabbed her clutch. jack had asked ty if he could use the car, which ty allowed.
the two made the drive to new york city and finally found a parking spot just two blocks away from the restaurant.
jack opened the door for esmeray and let her out of the car, grabbing her hand and holding it as they walked.
"im nervous jack." esmeray whispered. her anxiety wasn't helping her nerves, but she did want to be out of the house.
"you'll be alright. i got us a private room so it'll only be us in there." jack told her. esmeray nodded her head and tightened her grip on jack's hand as they entered the restaurant.
"table for jack." he said to the host. he grabbed two menus and motioned for the couple to follow him.
when they got to the table, jack pulled out esmeray's chair.
"such a gentleman." she chuckled. jack sat down across from her and they both started looking at the menu.
"what do you think you're going to get?" jack asked, looking up at y/n.
"probably the herb roasted chicken." esmeray answered. "what about you?"
"the filet." jack smiled.
"why did i even ask?" she chuckled.
the two ordered their dinners and talked about hockey and school before they started eating.
dinner was silent, but a comfortable one. just being in each other's presence was enough for both of them.
