Cold sweat and burned bedsheets. That's how fifteen-year-old Chris Harrington woke up now a day, which was very conflicting as he would never know if he wanted warmth or cold. All Chris knew was that he was sick of the nightmares and sick of his powers being out of control when he had them.
You should probably know that Chris had nightmares almost every night. They would vary from being about the abuse he used to face from his dad to his encounters with the Upside-Down, to seeing Bob Newby die over and over again and losing the boy who he fell truly, madly and deeply for and who gave him the very same powers that would burn the bedsheets he was lying in.
Chris lifted his hands and could feel the electricity and lightning sparks around them before he even saw it, and without doing anything all the lights in his room turned on if he wanted them to or not. Chris shook the excess electricity sparks off his hands before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and dropping his hands above his head.
"Come on, Harrington, time to get moving," Chris muttered to himself before he swung his legs over the side of his bed. He grabbed a shirt from the floor while still sitting and pulled it over his head as his messy hair fell over his eyes, he pushed the hair back and held it there using his headphones that he connected to his Walk-Man and Sunglasses by Corey Heart started blasting in his ears.
'I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines' Chris put this clip of his Walk-Man onto the elastic waist of the basketball shorts he wore as pyjama pants and dragged himself to his bathroom where he quickly splashes his face with some water and brushed his teeth to wake himself up.'And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes' Chris had created a routine for himself ever since the nightmares had become frequent and started to follow him around all day. First, he would make sure he was still alive and wake himself up properly. Then he would keep his mind working by having music on at all times, he found that that way no matter what, his mind would be active in some way. And then it was continuing as if everything was normal.'While, she's deceiving me
It cuts my security
Has she got control of me?
I turn to her and say' But let's be real for a second, life in Hawkins wasn't normal, especially not for a hormonal teen, who knew about a different dimension similar to one of D&D, had powers that he got from his best friend and is struggling to figure out who the hell he was.'Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades, oh no
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades, oh no
I can't believe it
'Cause you've got it made with the guy in shades, oh no' Chris knew he liked boys, deep down he's known that for a really long time but only started realizing it in the summer of 1985. But ever since high school he's been having doubts about if it was just that, just boys. He would call with Will and wanted nothing more than to go to California to kiss him but then he would talk to Fleur Fortier, a girl on the cheer squad, and think she was smart, kind and had stars in her eyes, but then he would join Lucas at the sports table in the cafeteria and blush every time Chance smiled at him.But one thing Chris did know was that no matter what he felt, it would never overthrow what he felt for Will, even if it killed him not knowing what it was he truly felt.
'I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Forget my name while you collect your claim' But oh, how Will Byers had a hold of Chris' heart. And oh, how Chris burned down a tree with lightning when he found out he couldn't go to California over spring break. And oh, how he had nightmares about it that night.'And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
See the light that's right before my eyes' It was six a.m., way too early for a normal teenager to be up, but as we established earlier, Chris wasn't a normal teenager. He brushed his hand through his dark hair to mess it up a bit before sliding his classic, old, bright red sunglasses on top of his head. He tucked the front of his Sex Pistols shirt into his loose fitted denim jeans and he finish the look by slipping on his black Vans with red socks poking out and throwing on his School baseball team jacket.
