Karenn held onto the dragons hand, she could only gawk at the port as he led them down the ship. She never even considered that there was any more to the world than what she already knew. She thought back to what Lance said to her before he went back to Eldarya. He saw her astonishment at all these new places and never before seen contexts and however much he tried to seem unaffected, he was amused. He said that he had to learn to never assume he had all the facts, theres allways another mudpuddle he could step into if hes not watching his step. Allthough he used a different substance in his own version.
He also told Karenn to not assume this is all there is, because if earth doesn't know about eldarya and eldarya doesn't know about the rest of the frikin world.... He stopped right there and didn't finish the sentence. He said that maybe he shouldn't plant the seed of paranoia in an innocent child. Okay, go off king.
She held the clawed hands of Laurin like her life depended on it. The buildings stretched into the sky like stone trees with wooden canopies and the dock creaked under dozens of pedestrians dressed in pale robes fit for gods. She couldn't pinpoint where the beach ended and the city began, maybe the two were one and the same and thats why she couldn't tell. She looked at the bright blue sky and spotted the halo that crowned the city of prosperity, a landmass floating high above the narrow alleys and bustling streets. What is that thing...
Theres so many dragons here, and they're all done up with braids in their fluffy mane, pretty jewlery on their neck and strangely enough, clothes. Lance said dragons don't need clothes to do dragon stuff, they don't even have to cover up because their plumage is enough.
Laurin said nothing the whole time, he just kept going through the narrow streets, powerwalking up every staircase and rounding corners like you've never seen a corner be rounded. Saying that she was exhausted would be an understatement. The trials and tribulations did not last, thankfully. The little fruitcake of a person stopped in the shade of a strange tree that had figs growing on them. He let go of her hand and leaned against the stone railing on the right side of the road, that made her realize that they are on a stone bridge. Is this forreal still the beach?? They've been walking for nearly an hour?!?!!!
"Like the city?" He asked.
"Yes, its so beautiful! But why start a conversation now?" She stretched her limbs, enjoying the cool air. The sun is ruthless in Katrea.
"I'm not the best at socializing with humans, hope you don't mind."He said, Karenn noticed that he has a slight lisp too.
"I don't mind at all! Where are we going, by the way?"
"Look at that tower over there!" He said, struggling to smoothly articulate 'tower over'. "That's where Lance told me to take you, I didn't want to go immediately because I would feel really scared if I was kidnapped, I would simply cry if I wasn't given a break." He took a strand of hair and twirled it around his fingers.
"Thats very considerate, thank you."Karenn said."But I think I'll be fine, let's go!"
They set acourse on yet another cobbled street and never let go of each others hand until they found the journeys end.
...
"Hi, my name is Karenn of Eldarya. I have an older brother named Nevra and a whole bunch of friends. I like pastries and sweet tea, my favourite passtime is gossiping and spending time with people." She said to Laurin, demonstrating how to properly go about a generic introduction. "See how I didn't mention that I can smell when the they went to bathroom? Don't say that outright, its weird and it makes people uncomfortable!"
"But isn't it better if they know? I was told that I should warn people when theres a flaw in their attire or when their hairdo has come undone." Laurin was bewildered that these things were different in any way.
