At the break of dawn, Valkyon cursed as the sun suddenly blinded him. He dug his heel into the shaukobow's side to go a little faster. The gate was opened for him, he nodded to the obsidians and gallopped right through on the empty road.
As he rode towards the stables, he heard Kassvins voice as he not so nicely berated someone. It's faint and barely audible, but his keen ears caught it amidst the light rain. He dismounted and handed the shaukobows reigns to the worker.
"I'll be back to unpack, don't bother." He said before following the marksman's voice. The cobblestone around the training grounds was covered in muddy footprints, the all lead towards the lockers. He recognized the prince's boots neatly standing next to a bench.
His voice is coming from the gymnasium. But he doesn't sound as bothered anymore.
"That's exactly why beginners should wear armguards. See what improper form does? He nearly skinned himself!" He's demonstrating how to hold the non dominant arm while shooting. It shouldn't be hyperextended, even if that feels like it's not as tiring. If you hyperextend, the string will hit the inside of your elbow. "Ah, Valkyon!" He said, noticing his lover.
"Kassvin." He nodded, smiling. "I've heard you all the way from the stable." Kassvin sighed, then he appeared as if he remembered something terrible. "Oh shoot... I need to- you know what, I'll tell you later. You'll be busy with reporting."
Valkyon kept his pokerface, but his curiosity was eating him alive. "Alright." The bell rang, meaning that pre period is ending and first period begins in a short while. "Looks like you're on a break. Wanna spend it together?"
"But of course~ Lirin, will you put the targets away?" The old elf, who staid completely silent until now, chuckled.
"I won't do a thing, they'll do it!" He pointed at the students who were trying to blend into the background. They used to think Valkyon was the scary one, but now that they've had time to get to know him they realize that Kassvin is the one they need to fear. Valkyon is a leader, he wants the guardians to trust him, Kass is only here to teach a lesson.
"Alright! Skrié'líé íí!" (Bye yall!) He grabbed his dragon's arm as he went towards the lockers, pulling him along. "How was the monster killing, Mr Geralt Of Rivia?"
"Fine." He let go, as he went to change into warm pants and put his shoes on.
"I see."
"What's it that you wanna tell me later?"
"Nothing." He stopped. Kassvin walked a few more steps before looking back at him with a hint of annoyance. "I-it's a big bite to chew."
"Is it." They looked at each other in silence for a few seconds before Valkyon got a strange feeling. A pull, a call, a yearning. "I'll go do my paperwork."
He walked past Kassvin, shoving his a little. The prince took no offense, instead went after him.
...
"Miiko!" Kassvin yelled, running down the stairs. "Ashkore is here!"
She was enraged, the explosion was just the tip of the iceberg? Fucking awesome. "WHAT?? WHERE?"
"Crystal room!" He was nearly trampled by her and the guardians rushing past him to get into the tower. He went after them.
She was not happy to find that the door was mysteriously locked. She pulled on the handle, screaming profanities in her mother language.
Kassvin stood back, not wanting to be in her way but also not wanting to help. Nevra arrived on scene, looking disheveled. He took one look at Miiko and the guardians trying to pry the door open and then turned his cold gaze to the human. He's had it with this fucking bastard.
